Lisa Eldridge Baume Embrace review

You know by now that if Lisa Eldridge launches a new lip products I want to test it. It can take a while for me to try the products, but once I do you know I have to grace it with a review. The Baume Embrace was launched last year and is a tinted lip balm that comes in five shades. Let’s review two of them.

In this review we are zooming in on two of the five shades in the Lisa Eldridge Baume Embrace tinted lip balm formula. These are sheer, so the shades don’t make much of a difference. I got Sweet Fig is listed as a pink brown and Metropolis is described as a deep blackberry. These were the two shades that intrigued me the most and they have been great as an easy to wear everyday shade when I don’t want to wear too much.

Review: Lisa Eldridge Baume Embrace Sweet Fig & Metropolis

As much as I love Lisa Eldridge, I do think this is a bit expensive for what it is. At €31 this is essentially a tinted lip balm. Do these have nice ingredients? Yes. But do they have the type of ingredients that make these as expensive as the regular Lisa Eldridge lipsticks? No. These do not have the same longevity and for a balm I don’t find them hydrating enough.

What do these lip balms have to offer?

These have a lot going for them. They are rich, buttery smooth lip balms that comes in a sheer but buildable pigment. It has a bit of shine and the shades range from neutrals great for everyday to deeper and bright shased. The formula is mainly different butters ranging from shea to more exotic ingredients. The result is a thin, but shiny formula that is very flattering on the lips.

What does this look like in a swatch?

In the bullet these look quite distinct, but on the lips and as well as in the swatch they are not that different. Sweet Fig is a light neutral shade. Metropolis is like a deeper version of it. You can see these is shiny, but also sheer. I wished these shades were a bit more distinct. I thought I would love Sweet Fig best, but I end up wearing Metropolis a bit more as it has more color on the lips.

What do these look like on the lips?

Here you can see the difference. Sweet Fig is like a great neutral to go with your more smokey looks. Metropolis I like better. It plays off nicely of the purple undertones in my lips and it therefore look like that perfect my lips but better shade. It has impact but without it looking like I am wearing too much. These don’t last too long as they are so balmy so about 2 – 3 hours of wear time max.

Should you buy the Lisa Eldridge Baume Embrace?

As much as I love Lisa Eldridge as a brand, the Baume Embrace aren’t a winner for me. Yes these are nice and I wear them quite a bit and enjoy them. However, these are just too expensive compared to other tinted balms I have tried. You can find other tinted lip balms for cheaper that I feel are more nourishing on the lipst. You really don’t have to spend this much money on a product like this, but if you want to then these are a very nice produc tindeed.
