FLOATING IN DREAMS

I always get excited whenever I find new to me brand, especially when I got traveling. Last year, I went to Florence and found Italian brand Wycon. Based in Naples they are drugstore priced and do some really good, high end feeling products. Today we are digging deeper into their matte lipstick and lip liner.

Spoiler alert: the minute I tried these, they became instant favorites and I find it a shame that I cannot find this brand more easily. Sure, they have a website that seems to ship internationally (I haven’t tried yet) but I would love to be able to find this in stores and swatch some more. Alas, I only have a palette, a shadow stick and these lip products for now. But I am not against planning another Italy trip in the future.

Review: Wycon Matt Icon lipstick & Intense Lip Pencil in Mauve

The brand has some affordable but also some more expensive products. The eyeshadow palette I tried was definitely not drugstore priced, but these lip products most certainly are. The lipstick retails for €12.90 and the lip liner for €4.90. I think that is a very reasonable price point for lip products that are this good.

What do these products have to offer?

The lipstick was a newer launch when I found this in store. It has a matt velvet finish but it feels soft and comfortable. The formula feels luxurious and the packaging has that rubberized feel to it as well. The lipstick is available in 14 shades. The shade shown here is shade 07 Mauve.

The lip liner also has a rich texture. It is a basic pencil that needs to be sharpened between uses. The best part about it? It comes in 59 different shades. This is shade 54 Mauve.

How do these look in a swatch?

I instantly fell for these shades. The display had the matching lip liner next to the lipstick. Most shades were very warm toned, but this has a slight plum undertone but is mostly a soft rosy tone with a hint of brown running through it. A perfect fall nude if you ask me and lipstick and lip liner go together very nicely.

The lipstick is rich and creamy and so is the lip liner. Very easy to use and formula wise this reminds me of luxury brands like Pat McGrath and Lisa Eldridge. Yes, that’s how this feels going on but at a fraction of the price.

What does this look like applied?

Here I am wearing both the lip liner on the edge and the lipstick in the middle of the lip. I like how the liner give a more defined look (despite the blurry picture) and the lipstick nicely fills in the lines of my lips. The shade is also stunning. It is a cooler leaning pink that has enough depth and is great for everyday. This is a ‘throw it on and head out the door’ kind of shade that works with anything.

Should you buy the Wycon lipstick & lip liner?

While I like both products a lot, unless you live in Italy or are traveling there soon these may be difficult to find. The website does ship internationally but I haven’t tried that yet and therefore have no information on what shipping will be like.

Wycon is certainly a brand I would like to try more by. Both the palette, eyeshadow stick and these lipsticks that I have tried have truly impressed me and I would love to get more shades.
