If there is a brand who’s new collection is killing it, it would be Essence. They only just dropped their Spring/ Summer 2024 collection a few weeks ago and there are so many great products. We are first taking a look at the Baby Got Glow highlighter in Sassy in Silk.

It is obvious just from looking at this: we have another Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Light Wand dupe on our hands. First we got ELF, Kiko Milano and Catrice, now we have Essence. The Baby Got Glow comes in three shades and there is also a blush version which I will be reviewing for you very soon as well.
Review: Essence Baby Got Glow liquid highlighter Sassy in Silk
First things first: I think this may be the most affordable version to have come out in this series of dupes. At just €3.69 this is an absolute steal. Not just for this being a Charlotte Tilbury dupe but also for a liquid highlighter to begin with. Even with drugstore makeup prices rising in recent years Essence remains one of the most affordable brands out there.
What does this highlighter do?

Where to begin with this one. Packaging wise this may seem similar to the Charlotte Tilbury but it is definitely a cheaper compound. It has a twist cap and a squeezy tube like the original but the puff is hard and the product squeezes straight through a hole rather than distributing through the puff. So there are definitely corners that have been cut.
But the packaging isn’t the most important part of a product of course. The product itself is meant to give a soft glow. It is liquid highlighter that can be applied with your fingers, the puff on the tube or a brush. The product promises to be blendable and easy to use.
What does this look like in a swatch?

You can see here that it is quite a subtle highlighter. Sassy in Silk is the lightest of three shades and it is a warmer golden champagne. The other two shades are a rose gold and a bronze. It is a bit sheer and has quite some shimmer particles but those aren’t noticeable once applied to the cheeks. I prefer to apply this with my fingers and then using the puff on the tube to blend it out.
What does this look like on the cheeks?

As this is a subtle highlighter it is difficult to catch in a picture. It has a very pretty glow though once applied. It isn’t as intense as other liquid highlighters I have tried. The texture is a little bit thick as well so while this is blendable it does requite a little bit more work than other liquid highlighters. I therefore like to apply a bit of this on the back of my hand first, then tap that onto the high points of my cheeks and then use the puff to blend it in further.
Should you buy the Essence Baby Got Glow highlighter?

The packaging is cheaper than the other dupes and the formula isn’t anything special. Also the shade isn’t something that you can easily find anywhere else. But nothing can beat this price point. For how affordable this is and how easy this is to use I feel this is very much worth it if you want to give this a whirl.
