FLOATING IN DREAMS

I wanted to sneak this into a review before the end of 2023, but sadly I got sick and so I wasn’t able to get it done in time. But here we go with a review of one of my favorite single eyeshadows I tried all 2023: REM Beauty Metallic Gel eyeshadow in Affirmation.

When it comes to this product it seems to be a case of ‘get it while you can’ as this seems to be disappearing from shelves. It is no longer listed on the REM Beauty website and the only place I could still find this are at Ulta and Feel Unique. So just a heads up in case you’d want to try this.

Review: REM Beauty Midnight Eyeshadow Metallic Gel Affirmation

One thing I love about REM Beauty is the price point. For a celebrity makeup line this isn’t overly expensive. This single eyeshadow retails for €20 which is pretty decent. It was available in 5 shades of which Affirmation is the coolest toned one.

What does this product have to offer?

I purchased this product last May from Sephora in France as I was looking for some new things to try and I had never tried REM Beauty. I got this and their concealer, but it is this gel eyeshadow that truly made me fall in love with the brand.

What it is? A gel formula cream shadow with lots of sparkles in a transparent base. You can wear this as is, but I love pairing with 3INA 24hr cream Shadow in 963 to give some depth to it to help this shadow stand out even more. It’s one of those shades that the more the light hits it the more sparkles you’ll see.

What does this product swatch like?

As you can see this is a stunning formula that can be applied full on or sheered out. I prefer it sheered out over a deeper base so you see most of the sparkle.

The only problem with this product? It dries out very quickly. If you aren’t careful this just doesn’t last which is why I think this is already being discontinued. That said, I have found that I can stir mine up every once in a while to keep it going so if you do own this, then make sure you take a spatula to this ever now and then to keep it fresh.

What does this look like on the eyes?

In this image I have paired the 3INA taupe cream shadow with the REM Beauty all over the lid. The 3INA shade is being used as liner for a bit of contrast, but this also works well as a smokey, shimmering base underneath the REM Beauty. You can see here that the REM Beauty can hold its own quite prettily as well when applied all over the lid.

Should you buy the REM Beauty Metallic Gel eyeshadow?

As much as I love mine, if you find it difficult to get a hold of, I wouldn’t recommend you chasing this down. The unstable formula might mean that if you were to buy this from third parties that yours won’t last as long and it might dry out even quicker. I just hope the brand brings it back with a better formula that is more longlasting in the pot. If they do that, I would highly recommend you get your hands on this.
