We’re nearing the end of the month, which means it’s time for a round up for songs I newly discovered in the past couple of weeks. I’ve found another 10 songs that I had never heard before. There’s a bit of old and a bit of new. A bit of R&B and a bit of indie with some soul thrown into the mix as well. In short: a bit of everything. I’m sure there is something in there that tickles your fancy. These sure all tickle mine!

Beyoncé – Partition

I know I know! I’m a bit late to be hopping onto this bandwagon, but I finally did. My fave song from Queen Bey’s latest album. Just make sure you turn up the volume and your subwoofer for the full effect.

Kyla La Grange – Cut Your Teeth (Kygo Remix)

It’s spring and this song is just that. This song is upbeat and the melody is an instant ‘sing along’. The vocals remind me a bit of Kate Bush for that touch of dreaminess. My vision? A street, this song, my feet stepping along to this song.

Marvin Gaye – Too Busy Thinking about my Baby

Not a new song by any chance, but I just bought a Marvin Gaye greatest hits as he’s one of my all time favorite artists. This song stood out at first listen. If you want to know where ANY modern day R&B artist learnt their tricks, then listen to this as Marvin Gaye is the king!

Monster Rally – Garbage City

Again, not a super new song, but I’ve really been digging Monster Rally lately. This is what I would call ‘modern day soundtrack music’. It has a lazy beachy vibe going on (most Monster Rally songs do) and it just breathes LA.

Stephen DeRosa – The Dumber They Come The Better I Like ‘Em (Boardwalk Empire OST – Original by Eddie Cantor)

So a little while ago I found that HBO rerecorded a bunch of original 1920s songs for their series Boardwalk Empire soundtrack. One of those songs is this one. I spent an entire evening searching anything and everything about vaudeville artists and songs. I came across the original (video + sound from 1923!!) of this song and just love how cheek in tongue this song is.

The Weeknd – Wanderlust (Snakehips Remix)

A two in one: the brilliance of R&B artist The Weeknd combined with indie upbeat chillwave vibes. I am seriously considering buying The Weeknd’s album. Man, that album is a gem! Think throwback to Michael Jackson (he did a cover of Dirty Diana which I LOVE!) meets R&B ca. 2014.

Paulo Nutini – Fashion

Featuring Janelle Monae, this song is my favorite from Paulo Nutini’s latest album. The ‘New Shoes’ singer has grown up and has returned with an album filled with a nice fusion between blues, jazz and funk. I don’t know about you, but to me that just screams summer soundtrack.

MISUN – Travel with me

Talking about summer soundtracks… This one has to go on that too! Catchy little song with a hint of pop and a rhythm that doesn’t allow you to sit still. Quirky too (Caribbean vibes combined with Asian influence say whut?!) but if you’ve seen these posts before you’ll know I like my quirky songs.

Liars – Vox Tuned D.E.D.

In that line of thought… This may very well be the oddest song in the list. I still have to give Liars’ latest album Mess a good listen, but when I gave it a quick once over, this song instantly stood out. Thumping electro beats with a generous amount of distortion with a hint of 80s throwback? I’m game!

Florence + The Machine – Addicted To Love

Was I the only person who did not know about this cover of Addicted to Love by Florence + the Machine? Florence was all I listened to a few years ago so I’m shocked I somehow missed this one. However, in June I have a dance performance and we’re dancing to this song. So I’ve been hearing a lot of this lately. If you have the time, and you’re in need of a giggle, then search for the original song & video by Robert Palmer. Can you say 80s fashion and make up?

What have you been listening to?
