For a long time I used to be quite the teetotal: I didn’t drink a drop of alcohol for years. Most drinks that were in vogue when I was a teenager I didn’t like and no one I really knew was drinking beer, which was the only thing I did like. This all changed when I went to university and submerged myself in student life. Before you start thinking that I have developed a habit since then, I will have to disappoint you: I haven’t. I still don’t drink much, but when I do I want it to taste good. Here is what I opt for when I want to drink something stronger than tea. 😉

Beer:

I like beer. It was the first alcoholic drink I liked and I still do. I tend to stay away from lagers and straight up pils though. I’m more of a trappist girl. My favorite beer? Orval!

Wine:

One thing I can really enjoy is a tasty glass of red wine. I used to also drink rosé and white wines, but for some reason I don’t like them as much any more. One quirky habit: if it’s French I won’t drink it. I prefer Italian and Argentinian wines. They are usually a lot more sour and I love sour drinks.

Martini:

No, not the cocktail, but an Italian vermouth. I also like the cocktail version, but I prefer the stuff that comes from the bottle. It’s similar to wine, but much sweeter. The consistency is very syrupy and quite thick. I like the Bianco version best. It’s great on its own, but when mixed with limes & ice or some iced tea it is also really really nice.

Bacardi Razz & Up:

The up here stands for Seven Up. Yup this is a mix drink. The first one that I actually like. You can buy it premade in cans and it’s incredibly sweet but oh so yummy. This was our go to drink at Extrema together with Flugel.

Baileys:

I love me some Baileys. Hence the picture that comes with this post. I skip the ice though. It takes away from the creaminess of the drink once it starts to melt and that I find yucky. It is the creaminess I like best about this drink, plus the fact that it’s got a bit of a bite to it as it is a lot stronger than the other drinks featured on here.

Whisky:

A not so feminine drink I have to confess, but I also really like whisky. I’ve only tried a few different ones so far, but the ones I did try I all thought to be great. I love the smoky flavor, the tinge of the alcohol hitting your throat and the fact that most whiskies have so much going on in one sip.

Q: what is your favorite alcoholic drink?

I am definitely not much of an alcohol drinker. If I drink 2 alcoholic beverages a year, it’s a lot for me. I like Bailey’s, Strawberry Daiquiri and Pina/Strawberry Colada. But that’s about it. And I can never drink 2 in a row. One is usually too much. I’ll stick to the non-alcoholic cocktails!

i envy you for having tried a great variety of alcoholic stuff. the only things i ever tried are the first two on your list, brandy, and gin. i’ve always been curious about martinis since watching james bond order “martini shaken, not stirred.”

I don’t really drink as you may know – I have however ventured into having a drink or two lately, just because – well I won’t allow myself to be afraid of it, even if I don’t want to be a drinker. So I guess I’ll go with what I had last – Pepsi/Coke with a shot of Lime and a shot of Vodka, sweet, fizzy with a little bite.

^^ Oh that does sound good too!

I do have a lot of variety in my drinks, but I’m not much of a drinker. I usually drink 2 – 3 a night. No more than that. It’s flavor that matters, not the amount.
