Holika Holika Good Cera Cream review

I love a good ceramide any time of day, but there are so many products on the market right now it can be difficult to find what’s worth it and what isn’t. I have tried a fair few skincare bits with this magical ingredient in and I liked the hydrating mist from the same line. Will I love the moisturizer as much?

With moisturizers I usually don’t have too many demands. They need to hydrate/ nourish my skin as I have dry/ dehydrated skin. However, my skin can be a little bit senstive (but there is no rhyme or reason to it) so I can’t just use everything either. Since I had good experiences with the mist, I figured this moisturizer was worth a shot.

Skincare review: Holika Holika Good Cera Super Ceramide Cream

I buy most of my K-beauty skincare through Yesstyle. I also have a code with them. If you use FLOATDREAM 23 you can get 5% off your next order. This cream retails for around €20 on Yesstyle. Not super expensive and you get 60 mls of product. I can use this day time or night time and it works well enough, but I do need a lot of it. So while this jar contains more than the average moisturizer, you will still use it up quite quickly.

What does this moisturizer have to offer?

Inside the jar you will find a thicker cream that is absorbed easily by the skin. It promises to help with dryness and the cerimides should help repair or maintain your skin barrier. It contains hydrating and moisturizing ingredients such as: beta-glucan, shea butter and aloe vera. It should be non-irritating and it is free of seven ingredients that includes fragrances and mineral oils.

The ingredient list:

Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Cyclopentasiloxane, Butylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Ethylhexyl Isononanoate, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Glyceryl Stearate, 1,2-Hexanediol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Stearic Acid, Polysorbate 60, Polyglyceryl-3 Methylglucose Distearate, Pentaerythrityl Tetraethylhexanoate, Stearyl Behenate, Dimethicone, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Phytosteryl/Isostearyl/Cetyl/Stearyl/Behenyl Dimer Dilinoleate, Hydroxypropyl Bispalmitamide MEA, Glycosphingolipids, Meadowfoam Estolide, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Sterols, Cetearyl Glucoside, Ceramide AP, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Ceramide EOP, Hydrogenated Polydecene, Ceramide NP, Cholesterol, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Cholesteryl Succinate, Glyceryl Polymethacrylate, Aleuritic Acid, Yeast Extract, Glycoproteins, Betaine, Sodium Hyaluronate, Polyquaternium-51, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Extract, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Squalane, Carbomer, Tromethamine, Tocopheryl Acetate, Glycerylamidoethyl Methacrylate/Stearyl Methacrylate Copolymer, Alteromonas Ferment Extract, Bacillus Ferment, Propylene Glycol, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Extract, Dipropylene Glycol, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Peel Oil, Cymbopogon Citratus Leaf Oil, Pelargonium Graveolens (Rose Geranium) Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Pogostemon Cablin (Patchouli) Oil, Santalum Album (Sandalwood) Oil, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Oil, Niacinamide, Allantoin, Disodium EDTA, Ethylhexylglycerin

In the ingredient list is long, but it mainly starts with water, glycerin and shea butter. It is followed by alcohols and silicones before we get to the actual ceramides in the name of the product about halfway through the lis. While there may be no mineral oils in this product there are fruit oils at the bottom of the list. So if you know what your skin reacts to, you may still want to steer clear of this. Or not, because for me there were no issues while using this product.

What this product did for my skin

I really enjoyed using this product. Applying a generous amount both day time and night time helped my skin feel less dry and more hydrated. The thicker formula meant my skin kept feeling nourished even after hours and it made my skin feel great. My main reason for not repurchasing this is the fact that I went through it so quickly. I just had to use a lot of product for it to be effective and that still makes this product effective in the long run as you’d have to repurchase this pretty much every month. I have just tried other moisturizers such as the La Roche Posay Cicaplast B5 that is cheaper for more product and that lasts me longer.

Pros:

  • Effective moisturizer
  • Great for dry skin
  • Non irritating

Cons

  • You need a lot for it to be effective
  • Expensive as a result
