Kiko Milano Skin Lover concealer review

What do you do when Kiko Milano not only has a new foundation but also a concealer with the same name? You test it out of course. I already reviewed the new Kiko Milano Skin Lover foundation. But today we are taking a closer look at the accompanying concealer. The Skin Lover Intensive Serum concealer promises to provide coverage but also have skincare properties at the same time. Will it deliver on those claims? Let’s find out.

The Kiko Milano Skin Lover concealer is available in 12 shades. I bought the lightest one: 01 Chantilly. This shade is a touch too light for me, but paired with the foundation it works really well. Because it is a smidge too light it has a highlighting effect which combined with the hydrating formula works really well for me. I can wear this by itself for a quick pick me up or wear it more full on combined with foundation. Here is my review.

Review: Kiko Milano Skin Lover Intense Serum Concealer 01 Chantilly

While Kiko Milano is quite a reasonably price brand, they are not a budget brand. I often compare them to more high end and luxury brands as I feel they have very similar products and formulas, but compared to the likes of Hourglass and Giorgio Armani their products are only a third of the price. While the €13.99 that this concealer goes for isn’t cheap, finding a concealer with this type of formula at and even more affordable price point would be very difficult indeed. Kiko Milano is available through their official website and dedicated Kiko stores.

What does this concealer have to offer?

I personally was a bit skeptical about this one when I first got it in. The formula is super thin and hydrating. It feels more like an eye cream than a concealer. So would this give any coverage? I wasn’t sure. The metal applicator was another thing that threw me off: yes it is cooling on the skin, but does this mean it can only be used on the under eye or will it also work elsewhere on the face. I am happy to report that while this feels like skincare, it certainly has coverage AND the metal applicator is a game changer.

One downside to this concealer is how yellow most of the shades are. That is why I didn’t go for shade 02 as I was afraid that would be too dark. Now don’t get me wrong: I like a yellow toned concealer as I find it helps with covering up redness despite my cooler undertone. But for very cool toned people this simply wouldn’t match even if it is light enough. The formula is thin, lightweight and indeed like a serum. It has a bit of a natural reflect to it, with stays. With this concealer you only need a little bit: apply too much and this will look terrible. Thin layers gives you coverage and wear time. I don’t even need powder with this and it still looks good on my dry skin.

Does this actually conceal? That was a worry I had upon opening this, but as you can see here, a thin layer makes light work of any redness and darkness on my under eye area. The light reflect actually makes this look pretty and helps with needing less product. My only issue has been that this pairs really well with the Kiko Milano Skin Lover foundation, but not with others. I will have to try some of my other foundations with this to be absolutely sure, but it seems this formula is simply too wet for other foundations and it breaks them up. So if that is a worry for you, this may not be for you. Also stay away if you have oily skin: this will simply slide off your skin.

Should you buy the Kiko Milano Skin Lover concealer?

I think this is my new favorite Kiko Milano concealer. Like the foundation, I instantly fell in love with this and will certainly revisit it and use it up at some point. If they still do this by that time I would want to repurchase this for sure. A little goes a long way though. This comes with 4 mls of product so this will last me for some time to come. Get it if you want a very concealer and it comes in your shade.

Pros:

  • Skincare like formula
  • Great wear time (10+ hours)
  • No powder needed

Cons:

  • Limited shade range and undertones
  • Not suitable for oily skin
  • Does not blend well with every foundation
