I know I know: saying this is my new favorite foundation is a bold claim to make, but hear me out. I have tried hundreds of foundations in my day and I know that Kiko Milano cannot only do good ones, they have consistently made some of my favorites. So when the Kiko Milano Skin Lover foundation came out, I not only knew I had to try it, I knew it had all the potential for me to be falling in love with it. And I am happy to say: that prediction was right. Here is my full review.
Available in 21 shades, this is a foundation that I feel is starting to get a better shade range from Kiko. It comes in undertones (incl. cool ones!) and it goes fairly deep. It’s not perfect yet, but I think this is a lot better than their previous releases. This has a dewy finish which works well for my dry skin. So in case you want to know for comparison: I have dry/ dehydrated, sensitive skin that is fair with a cool to neutral undertone. I am also in my early 40s, so that def goes into how foundations wear and look on me.
Review: Kiko Milano Skin Lover Intense Serum foundation 1 CR Cool Rose
Let’s start with how much you get and at what price point. Currently this retails for €20.99 on the Kiko Milano website. It comes with 28 mls of product. That is a little bit less than a standard sized foundation, but I find I only need one to two drops of this for it to cover my entire face. It is very pigmented, has a light to medium coverage, a dewy finish and comes in a dropper style bottle.
What does this foundation have to offer?
As you can see in this swatch, the coverage level is quite middle ground. I always use a lot less foundation as I don’t like too much of a heavy base, but it is well pigmented. It has a very dewy finish. The formula feels almost gel like, it is very hydrating and it blends easily into the skin. The dewy finish means this look natural and glowy on the skin. If I use to much it can easily accentuate texture though, so working in thin layers is what works best for this.
What is the shade match like?
Shade 1 CR Cool Rose is one of the best shade matches Kiko Milano does for me. I have tried other foundations by the brand in this shade and it always works well. Here you can see a close up of my face: you can see the shade is a perfect match along my jaw line and neck. It blends into the skin nicely and doesn’t sit on it at all provided you do work it into the skin. It can look a bit heavy and makeuppy if you use too much or fail to blend it out enough. Remember what I said about those light layers?
What is the coverage like?
The coverage of this foundation is really beautiful. I have had lots of compliments from people while wearing this. Both in real life and online. It nicely covers up my redness and I don’t need much concealer at all. It just looks beautiful and while being very dewy it is still longlasting too. This easily survives a work day and then some. It doesn’t crease (which surprises me with the feel of the formula) and it wears great throughout the day. In short this is a foundation that has everything going for it: easy to use, great shade match, great formula, longlasting and natural looking. This is a win for me all across the board.
Should you buy the Kiko Milano Skin Lover foundation?
I think this is a great product. I have not been able to put this down ever since I started wearing it. I mean formula wise this is very comparable to the Armani Luminous Silk I was trying to use up this year. In fact, in my November Shop My Stash I decided to keep this on in OVER the Armani!
