Kiko Milano X Emma Roberts Glow Sculpt bronzer review

Today I am finally sharing my review of the Kiko Milano Glow Sculpt liquid bronzer. This was part of their Emma Roberts collab, which I thought would be limited edition, but you can still find all these products on the Kiko website. So that is a nice added bonus and a liquid bronzer by Kiko was something I had yet to try. I thought the applicator looked interesting, so this would be worth a shot testing it out. Here is my review.

I got mine in the shade 02 Caffèlatte. It is the middle of three available shades. Not sure this will be deep enough for deeper skin tones and the light options looked very yellow. Since this came across as a more neutral undertone I went with that. I have learned over the years that undertone is more important to me than depth in my cheek products: I can adjust for the saturation of a shade more easily than I can for its undertone.

What stood out to me is that this was quite expensive, even for Kiko. Kiko Milano is what I like to think of as a mid range price point drugstore like brand. They of course have stand alone stores, so drugstore in the sense of where it is available doesn’t apply here, but price point wise the brand is very comparable to brand such as L’Oreal and Max Factor over here. It comes with 5.5 mls of products, which is quite a standard size, but at €15.99 I do think it is a bit pricey. I mean, there powder bronzers (Flawless Fusion) are as expensive, but those give you 12 grams of product which is a lot more bang for your buck.

What does this product have to offer?

So this is marketed as an easy to use, sheer to buildable product. And it certainly is. A little goes a long way and it sheers out really wel with a brush or your fingers. It may look very intense on the applicator, but it truly isn’t. I loved the shade, but the applicator is where it was a huge set back for me. I didn’t enjoy how it applied the product in a small sized dot and then I had to blend that dot out. The dot was simply too small and it made me work too hard to get the bronzer where I wanted it to be.

What does it look like in a swatch?

Struggles with application aside, I think the shade is beautiful. It is a bit deeper than I would go for initially, but as you can see in the middle of the shade here: once you blend it, it gives a very pretty neutral vibe. The liquid formula doesn’t transfer and is longlasting and I had no issues with this fading through the day. It is a bit too wet perhaps and I felt that didn’t help with how much time I had to blend it into my skin.

What does it look like on the cheeks?

As intense as it looks on the applicator and in a full on swatch, that’s how beautiful this is on the cheeks. Yes, it takes a while to get here and you risk blending your foundation away, but overall it nicely sheers out, looks natural on and it works well with other makeup products. It is a bit more noticeable on the skin so this isn’t a winter bronzer for me, but for summer this is a good product. I just have to pay attention to how I apply this.

Should you buy the Kiko Milano liquid bronzer?

I think this is a beautiful product. The applicator let’s it down. It is a very similar style applicator to what I have seen being used by loads of brands, but I don’t love it. It simply applies too small of a dot and therefore you need to apply a lot or blend a lot to get it where you want it to be. However, the product is a great quality and while it may be a bit pricey I do think it is easy to use overall.

Pros:

  • Neutral shade
  • Longlasting formula

Cons:

  • Cumbersome application
  • Not a lot of bang for your buck
