One of Catrice’s bestseller products? The Under Eye Brightener in light rose. I reviewed it years ago and it is a product that just gets the job done. You can spend so much money on these types of correctors, but if you can find it at a drugstore price point, that’s what we go for of course. So when I discovered they now do this in a liquid version, I knew I had to try it. This is my review.
And one thing that is good about this product is that it was immediately released in four shades. The original in the pot was only available in a light pink for years and it took a while for more warm toned and deeper shades to be released. But not this! So there’s that. This review is for the shade 010 Light Rose.

I love how Catrice is one of those brands that shows us that you don’t need to spend much money for a solid makeup pick. This retails for €4.69. That is under €5 and I feel that this price point is becoming less and less normal. So yes, this is a cheap and cheerful one and it is available now from all retailers that stock Catrice. In the US you can buy the brand through their official website.
What does this product have to offer?
So in theory the Catrice Under Eye Brightener Liquid sounds great: a more liquid version of the potted product. Or so I thought. But I don’t feel this is 100% the same. It’s a different formula of course and that means this is more lightweight and while more hydrating and less drying it also has less coverage and therefore defeats the point of using as a corrector as it doesn’t do enough. This works best as a lightweight concealer on no makeup makeup days, rather than covering up your dark circles. I also didn’t love the packaging as I am not a fan of these fluffy applicators.
What does it look like in a swatch?
And I think you can see here on the back of my hand what I mean with a lightweight formula: it is very thin and therefore very blendable. That’s a pro. It is certainly easy to use, doesn’t crease and lasts all day. But it just isn’t potent enough on my deepest of dark circles days. I have naturally deep circles as my eyes are more deepset. So there is a shadow and darkness in my inner corner no matter what I do. And while the shade is very pretty, I feel it didn’t do what I wanted it to do and the very obvious pink shade meant it wasn’t great on the rest of my face.
What does it look like on the eyes?
Since this is called an under eye brightener I also used it as such. You can see here that is a beautiful product. It blends in seamlessly and it is very forgiving, even if you have fine lines and wrinkles. I think this is a great alternative if you don’t want there to be too much coverage and color correcting and you are just looking for a lightweight, easy to use, hydrating under eye concealer. For me, I just want a bit more out of my concealer and I felt this just didn’t quite tick all the boxes for me.
Should you buy the Catrice Under Eye Brightener Liquid?
Even though this didn’t blow me away like I had expected based on my experience with the potted version, I still think this is a good product. It isn’t quite for me, but I think it is clever that Catrice now does a liquid version of their very popular under eye brightener. Yes, this has a thinner formula and is therefore a little less effective for correcting dark circles, but overall it is a pretty effect and wear time is great. If this is up your street you will still love it I’m sure.
