The Body Shop Vitamin C Overnight Mask review

The Body Shop and me have been good friends on the skincare front. I have used them for years and it was some of the first skincare in my 20s I found that didn’t set off my sensitive skin. The Aloe Vera line especially but also parts of the Vitamin E (the eye cream!) and the Vitamin C line (the moisturizer) have been a particular favorites of mine. So will I be able to add the Vitamin C Overnight Glow Reaveling Mask to my list of favorites? Let’s find out in this review.

So I was curious after what this might do for my skin as I am dealing with some dark spots and my skin needs all the help it can get to look more glowy and even. An overnight mask sounds like something that is right up my street: you just leave it on and it does its job overnight. This contains lactic acid and vitamin c and I have had great luck with both of those in past, so I thought it was worth a shot.

Review: The Body Shop Vitamin C Overnight Glow Revealing Mask

I think this may be one of the more expensive products by The Body Shop. At €28 a pop, this isn’t super cheap, but I find I only need about a dime sized amount each time. So this 100 ml tube will last a long time for sure. You can buy this from any The Body Shop store or online for their local website in your country. This will be different from anyone and the brand has been struggling these past few years so they aren’t as easy to buy as they used to be.

What does this mask have to offer?

Let’s have a closer look at the ingredient list first:

Aqua/Water/Eau, Octyldodecanol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Glyceryl Stearate, Myristyl Myristate, Squalane, Lactic Acid, 3-O-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid, Cetearyl Alcohol, Diglycerin, Sodium Citrate, Zea Mays Starch/Zea Mays (Corn) Starch, Butyrospermum Parkii Butter/Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Betaine, Glycerin, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Sodium Hydroxide, Polyacrylate Crosspolymer-6, Phenoxyethanol, Citric Acid, Caprylyl Glycol, Salicylic Acid, Parfum/Fragrance, Sodium Hyaluronate, Tocopherol, Polysorbate 60, Sorbitan Isostearate, Linalool, Palmaria Palmata Extract, Limonene, Glycine Soja Oil/Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Benzyl Benzoate, Carica Papaya Fruit Extract, Mangifera Indica Fruit Extract/Mangifera Indica (Mango) Fruit Extract, Citral, Hexyl Cinnamal, Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, Benzyl Alcohol, Geraniol, Citronellol, CI 19140/Yellow 5, CI 15510/Orange 4, CI 17200/Red 33.

So this product mainly consists of water, contains squalane as well as lactic acid and shea butter. So this is why this is a thicker formula. It smells strongly of a zesty citrus fruit, like the moisturizer, therefore I think this isn’t great if you are sensitive to fragrance in skincare products. Apart from those ingredients there are also some other fruit extracts and salicylic acid in this. It moisturizes, but also helps my skin improve.

What does the Vitamin C Overnight Mask do for my skin?

Overall I like what this does. I use it every night as instructed and I make sure I use my SPF in the day time as this can make your skin more sensitive to sun exposure. My skin it slowly but surely starting to improve in terms of texture for sure. The dark spots seem to be fading as well in some places, but sometimes I think that is just a trick from the light. So time will tell if that improvement keeps happening.

I have been using this pretty much every night for the past 6 weeks or so. So I have an idea of what this does, but things could go in different directions from here. Because this already contains active ingredients, I do not actually go in with more things like retinols or face oils as it is too much for my skin to handle. In a way it’s a great one stop shop that just gets a lot done in one go. For summer that is great, because layering skincare in hot weather isn’t as effective.

Should you buy the The Body Shop Vitamin C Overnight Mask?

I think this is an excellent product and I have been enjoying it a lot. It will take forever to use up 100 mls of this stuff too so while it may seem expensive, it is bang for your buck. I will certainly be using this up all the way and if it goes well for all the months I will be using this, I will of course be repurchasing this for sure.

What do you think of overnight mask? Do you think they work?
