I love a good eye cream, but those can be expensive let me tell you. And do they really do much more than an average moisturizer? I don’t really think so. But I still like using a separate one, with the The Bodyshop Vitamin E eye cream being one of my favorites. This Balea Vital eye cream has a similar look and feel so I thought I might give it a whirl. For how affordable this is, I am pleasantly surprised.
So I picked mine up from DM, the German drugstore. I think you will be hard pressed to find it elsewhere. Because I speak just a bit of rudimentary German I wasn’t fully certain what this would be and the other Balea eye cream I tried was alright, but not a great success. I felt similarly about this at first, but now that I have tried it for a few months I like it a lot better that I had expected.
Skincare review: Balea Vital eye cream
At €3.85 for a tube of eye cream I wasn’t sure what to expect. The first one I tried irritated my eyes if I applied it and then tried to read or watch something, so I could only apply it right before bed. I like using this either day or night time. It is quite a rich, thick formula and is aimed at mature skin. Which I like, because I get super dry around my eyes, so I like a rich creamy formula.
What are the ingredients like?

As you can see this contains sesame seed oil and shea butter at the top of the list as well as other seed oils and glycerin. Super hydrating and nourishing ingredients, which could mean this is too rich for many people. What surprised me when I first started using this was that the product has a tint. It sheers out easily and it is written on the packaging (but my rudimentary German made me not realize that), so it’s not a thing that affects how this product performs.
What does it do for my skin?
This being an eye cream, you of course want to know: does it work? The answer to that question is yes and no. This eye cream works if you want something rich, creamy and nourishing. It promises to help against signs of aging and contains caffeine to help with eye bags, but that is what I haven’t noticed much difference with. For now it’s been excellent as a night time eye cream for me the most as I prefer a more depuffing product for the day time.
Should you buy the Balea Vital Augencreme?
I think this little eye cream is a very no frills moisturizing eye cream that is great if you suffer from dry skin. I have some fine lines around my eyes, but they are mostly due to dryness, not necessarily from aging (hooray for hypermobility and collagen overproduction). So as long as things stay hydrated my skin looks pretty good and this product certainly helps with that. The downside is that you have to go to Germany to get this. I hope to be able to go again later this year and think I may just repurchase this.
