Did you know the K-beauty world has a new cushion foundation in town? Not only is it all the rage, it is also shade inclusive with 40 shades available. I was sent shade 21N in PR and today I am revieiwing the Parnell Cicamanu Serum cushion for you. Is this my new cushion foundation?
K-beauty is not know for being shade inclusive. So to get 40 shades is great. This also comes in an SPF compact and shade 21N Rosy is what I am showing you here. It is one of the deeper tones in the fair spectrum of the foundation. There are 9 shades that are lighter with four classified as cool toned. 21N is listed as a neutral toned foundation and I would say that is pretty much bang on. Shade 21 is usually a good shade for me in K-beauty brands so let’s see how it fares.
Review: Parnell Cicamanu Serum Cushion 21N Rosy
Let’s talk price point first. The Parnell Cicamanu Serum foundation retails for around €15 through Yesstyle which is a good price point. Cushion foundations don’t come with a lot of product usually and this doesn’t come with a refill like some cushion foundations do. I find that most high quality cushions retail for this price point if they don’t include a refill.
What does this product have to offer?
The Parnell cushion claims to be infused with skincare ingredients. Hence the serum in the name. It is meant to be hydrating and soothing including ingredients such as centella asiatica (a favorite in my skincare routine), ceramides and phytospingosine. It is supposed to be buildable coverage, yet still making it look smooth and natural. It is free of parabens and should be great for sensitive and irritated skin. This does not contain SPF.
What do you get in this cushion foundation?
In this cushion you get 15 grams of product. It comes with a puff for easy application. You just press the puff into the sponge and you can dab the product onto the skin. Go in with a second layer or a concealer to achieve more coverage. It should give a glowy finish, but on me I feel it actually looks a bit matte. I also seem to be going through it super quickly. After just a few weeks of use, I I feel it is already running out.
What does it look like in a swatch?
In swatch you can clearly see the formula. It has a slight glow, has decent coverage but can easily be applied thinly for an even layer. Shade 21N Rosy is a touch too yellow for me. I think one shade down 21C Cool Rose might be better for me as it would be more cool toned. In terms of wear time I have had no complaints. I wore this in a few videos that I filmed after being at work all day and my base was still on.
What is the shade match like?
The shade match of 21N Rosy is very decent. It is a touch too yellow. I feel that the product is very liquidy and the puff soaks up a lot of the product every time I use it. It doesn’t deposit a lot of product onto the skin. This makes it more difficult to get an even layer. But you can see here how it blends into my neck and there is no obvious line there.
What is the coverage like?
This product has a light coverage that you can build up. I prefer to use a bit of concealer in those areas where I feel I need it, but you can see it neutralizes any redness and my skin looks more even, less textured and a bit more glowy with this product on. I have sensitive skin that is dry and dehydrated and this doesn’t cause a reaction, not does it accentuate any dryness and it lasts all day.
Should you buy the Parnell Cushion foundation?
I think this cushion has a lot going for it. It has a beautiful finish, lasts all day and comes in heaps of shades. If you like a very natural looking foundation that gets the job done, you will enjoy this. If you want more coverage, this is not for you. My ony downside here is the amount of product: I feel this product is already running out after only a few weeks of usage. That is too quickly, even for a cushion foundation. That said, this is a nice product and I love that it will be accessible to so many people as it comes in so many shades.
