Patrick Ta is one of those brands where the more I try it, the more I don’t understand the hype. I tried one of the eyeshadow palettes, which was an instant declutter for me and also a lip product I tried wasn’t a success. So I was hoping the blush formula would be better. But alas! This wasn’t what I had expected.

The Patrick Ta Duo blush is one I really wanted to try, but I struggled finding a good shade for me. This is now available in 16 shades, but when I purchased mine there weren’t as many out and everything was warm toned. And that is my main gripe with the brand: the shade selection is just not great for fair skin with a cool to neutral undertone. This coral blush was the first thing the brand did that remotely appealed to me.
Review: Patrick Ta Major Headlines Double-Take Cream and Powder Blush duo in She’s Vibrant
Now I love testing out makeup, but if your products are as expensive as Patrick Ta and nothings seems quite right for my preferences I tend to find things too expensive quite easily. This blush retails for over €35 and I can only purchase Patrick Ta through Cult Beauty. This makes it not only expensive but also cumbersome to try: the products sell out quickly and with only one retailer available it’s difficult to get a hold of it too.
What does this blush have to offer?

I remember these blushes first launching and everyone going crazy for them. The revolutionary thing here: a cream and powder in one compact with the cream protected by a plastic flap. The cream is supposed to be layered over the powder: seems counter intuitive but it works. She’s Vibrant is a beautiful coral shade, but the effect is quite intense and a bit too much for my liking.
What does this look like in a swatch?

Swatched out this looks beautiful. I was hoping it was more of a red when I bought it, but it turns out it was a bit more orange leaning. The cream is a bit more sheer and the powder is intensely pigmented. I can see why they recommend using the powder first. But on the cheeks I didn’t love the combo, it felt a bit dry and the overly matte texture of the powder didn’t play well with my dry skin.
What does it look like on the cheeks?

I do think this looks pretty on the cheeks, but to get it here? Boy I had to put in some hard work. This blush is easily over applied on my fair skin. A little goes a very long way and with a shade like this, a clownish look is more easily achieved than a natural one. It has a nice shine with the cream on top, but the cream under the powder worked better for me as it meant the powder wasn’t too drying.
Should you buy the Patrick Ta duo blush?

As beautiful as this looks, I like a blush that is easier to apply. This is a faff to use as I have to be very careful how much I pick up and it easily looks like too much. The formula is also a touch too drying for me and combined with such an intense shade isn’t a great look for me. If you have oily skin, love very intense makeup or if you just love a very vibran blush this will be great, but it sadly wasn’t for me.
