Not too long ago, Essence launched their Baby Got… line. This range of both liquid and cream products has been expanded ever since. The first bronzer in the range was one of my favorites, despite the dinky packaging. For spring/ summer 2025 the brand has released a shimmer version of that bronzer. Let’s see how I like it.

Up to now this bronzer doesn’t come in a whole many shades. There’s just two which isn’t a lot. The shade 010 Golden Hour is the shade I picked up but it is sadly too warmed toned for me. The other one was far better as the undertone was more neutral. Still, the product performs in a similar way to the older product so I can definitely say this is a good one if you are looking for an affordable cream bronzer.
Review: Essence Baby Got Bronze Shimmer bronzer 010 Golden Hour
At just €3.49 this is quite possibly one of the most affordable bronzers on the market. It doesn’t come with a whole lot of product (see below) as there is only a very small stick. The packaging is the main drawback for me here: it feels cheap and flimsy and I don’t think this would survive a makeup bag all that easily. The plastic is thin and feels like it could break any second.
What does this product have to offer?

This bronzer is a shimmer formula. This is supposed to result in sunkissed skin while adding a bit of glow as well. It has a rich creamy formula that is easy to blend. It is a scented product (it smells mildly of coconuts) so if you are sensitive to fragrance this may not be for you.
What does this look like in a swatch?

As you can see in the swatch here this is a very warm toned bronzer. Too warm toned for me. The gold sparkle is quite visible in a full on swatch but on the face it doesn’t look like a golden discoball. It adds enough color to the face and it is pretty. But because it is the wrong undertone for me it just looks a bit orange and muddy and I have to be very careful how and how much I apply with this one.
What does this look like on the face?

On the cheeks this really isn’t too bad. It is pretty. It adds warmth has a beautiful glow and it lasts well on the cheeks. With a good brush this isn’t too difficult to apply but I just prefer the shade of the matte version. That one also comes in many more shades as the range was extended due to it being a popular product. I hope this will happen for this one too.
Should you buy the Essence Baby Got Bronze shimmer bronzer?

If this shade is right for you, this is a beautiful product that doesn’t break the bank. It is rich, creamy and easy to apply and at this price point you just can’t beat it. With everyday use you will have to repurchase it quickly as you don’t get a lot of product. For me, this wasn’t perfect so therefore I will no longer be using this, and pass it on to someone else instead.
