One of my most anticipated launches of 2024 was the NYX Buttermelt blushes and bronzer. The bronzers came first, then the blushes and everyone was raving about them. So I knew I wanted to test them out. But it took AGES for them to drop in Europe. So when I spotted them at Superdrug in Edinburgh I knew I had to pick some up and test them out for you. And I am finally getting around to doing just that. Let’s review the NYX Buttermelt Blush in 06 For the Butta and the Buttermelt Bronzer in 02 All Buttad Up.

When I picked these up in store not all the shades were there, but I was able to swatch everything and I came away with the bronzer in shade 02 as the undertone seemed better for me. 01 looked too yellow on my skin tone. In the blush I went with 06 as I found most of the range pulled very warm toned. This shade is aimed at deeper skin tones, but I thought I could make it work with a light hand. The blush is available in 12 shades. The bronzer is available in 8 shades.
Review: NYX Buttermelt Blush & Bronzer
Not only did these drop in the UK, I have now managed to also find them in The Netherlands. So whatever place stocks NYX in your country is probably where you can find this. I can find it from Douglas in NL and Superdrug in the UK. These retail for €10.95 which really isn’t too bad for a drugstore blush and bronzer. I feel most drugstore brands have gotten quite expensive including NYX, but this is quite reasonable seeing how pigmented these are.
What does the bronzer have to offer?

The NYX Buttermelt Bronzer is the product that got this whole range started. From the embossing to the packaging this feels like a smart move. It fits NYX as a brand and the fact that there are 8 shades available makes this very appealing too. This product promises to seamlessly bronze up the skin, while staying on the face for 12 hours. The formula includes several butters (hence the name) and should therefore blend like a powder but apply like a cream.
What does the blush have to offer?

The blushes were an equally exciting launch but I already heard that these were super pigmented. So I was a bit afraid of this one. It has the same rich creamy formula as the bronzer that promises to be longwearing and have some butters as ingredients to help improve the skin over time. The shade selection was a bit of a let down for me when I saw these in store and struggled finding something I wanted to try. In terms of cool tones they had a blue toned pink and this one. The bright purple I can find online was not in store so I couldn’t swatch it.
What do these look like in a swatch?

Here you can see the products in a swatch. I love how the bronzer has the tiniest hint of a sheen. It means it will look quite natural on, add warmth but not overly so. This shade felt the most neutral of the lighter shades so I knew I would be able to get away with it. The blush was a bit of a gamble as it is quite intense but I like the berry tone a lot. Both products are indeed rich and creamy, apply very smoothly and have impactful pigments that will show up even on the deepest of skin tones.
What does this look like on the cheeks?

Let’s do a bit of a before and after. In the top picture is my skin without the blush and bronzer and below is my skin with both of the products. You can see if shows up well and sits on the skin nicely. The blush is quite intense as you can see in the full face picture below. These wear all day indeed, I need the lightest of hands, especially with the blush, but luckily have a great blush brush that helps with that application. So if a super pigmented, longlasting blush at the drugstore is something you are interested in, then I would definitely think you might like this.

The NYX Buttermelt blush and bronzer have been a great new launch by the brand. I had not loved a NYX product as much as I do these for some time now. So I think this launch just makes a lot of sense. Not overly expensive, great performance and excellent pigments all comes together to create a truly great drugstore bronzer and blush product that will work for many different people. Well done NYX!
