Whenever Catrice comes out with a new cheek product I know I have to try it for you, but sometimes things do not go as planned. When the new Spring/ Summer 2025 drop happened I spotted a new highlighter on the website where I normally order from. I didn’t recognize the product in the picture, so I bought it. Not only did it turn out to be a new shade in a product that already existed, it is also too dark for me. Let’s give it a review anyway!
So what this turned out to be is a new shade in the More Than Glow highlighter range. The image on the website made this look like a baked product, so I think the website just made a mistake, because this is not a baked product. There are now four shades available of which shade 010 Ultimate Platinum Gaze has been a favorite for years. It is bright, intense and one of the best products in the Catrice range. Let’s see if shade 040 Absolutely Blushin’ Bright can be a good shade for deeper skin than mine.
Review: Catrice More Than Glow highlighter 040 Absolutely Blushin’ Bright
First things first, you know the drill: this is an affordable product. At around €4 each this is a highlighter that packs a punch. It has a fairly deep rose gold base and then the most gorgeous golden toned flash. Too deep for me? Yes, but that lighter shade in 010 has been perfection and at this price point it is an absolute steal. The packaging is a bit cheap, but the product itself is better than some high end highlighters. So good to see Catrice doing a shade extension.
What does this product have to offer?
The More Than Glow highlighters are absolutely gorgeous. They are a rich creamy formula that feels like a cream but applies like a powder. The shine is intense, but if you apply a little it can still look natural. Build it up and this will be one of those highlights that you can see from space. There is a noticeable color to the base in all of these and that’s why this shade isn’t quite right for me. But it’s the shine that matters. Absolutely Blushin’ bright is a rose gold that we haven’t seen in a while.
What does this look like swatched?
In the packaging this still looked quite bright to me and light something that might work. The shine is beautiful but as you can see in this swatch the base color is far too deep for me. On me this would make for a great shimmering blush but the shine in this is too intense for my liking to use it as such. But the shade is gorgeous: a deeper rose gold with a peachy gold reflect that just brightens up the minute the light hits it. At this price point it just can’t be beat.
What does it look like on the cheeks?
Getting highlighter to show up in images is a difficult thing to do any time of day, but this just blends in with my blush and disappears. The base color is too deep for me, the shine the wrong undertone so on me it just completely cancels out. I mainly get a dark patch on my cheekbone which is not the look I am going for. Does this look okay when I move my face? Yes, but this highlighter isn’t right for my skin tone and would be much better on people with medium to deep skin that has a warm undertone.
Should you buy the Catrice More Than Glow highlighter?
I think this highlighter packs a great punch and if this is your shade you will have found yourself a beautiful and affordable highlighter that will see you through. On me, this was too dark so I would not recommend this particular shade for anyone with a cool toned undertone in the fair too light range. It will just not work for you, unless you like a very glowy blush that is. If you have medium to deep skin with a warm undertone this will be beautiful though.
