My lovely subscriber Loraine gifted me a Laura Geller blush when we met up in October. Laura Geller is a brand that is hard for me to buy so I was super curious to try this out. I tried out one of their baked highlighters back in 2018, but hadn’t tried much else by the brand. So let’s try out the Laura Geller Baked Blush N Brighten blush in Pink Buttercream.

I don’t know much about Laura Geller as a brand. I remember people talking about them when they were stocked in Ulta in the US, but then I believe they went out of Ultra and the brand just wasn’t being talked about much anymore. This blush is available in 15 shades. Pink Buttercream is described as a natural finish with raspberry, bronze and neutral pink. It looks very pretty in the pan with the marble effect.
Review: Laura Geller Baked Blush-N-Brighten Pink Buttercream
What surprised me when I looked this up was that this wasn’t as expensive as I had expected. In my brain Laura Geller is a high end brand, but this blush retails for €17, which makes this more mid range in terms of price range. I would not know where best to pick this up as it was gifted but it seems like Looksfantastic and the official website are the places to go.
What does this product have to offer?

Not only was I super appreciative of receiving this as a gift the blush shade also looks stunning. The marbled effect always looks stunning on baked products and I have a few baked blushes I love. This blush did remind me a lot of the baked products I owned around 2016 and most of those I ended up decluttering as they weren’t my favorite. So while I can love a baked blush, it really depends on the formula whether I will actually like them or not.
What does this look like in a swatch?

I love the way this looks in the swatch. It has a beautiful shine and while the pink shade isn’t the kind of pink I would normally go to, it also doesn’t look the way I had expected based on what it looks like in the pan. And what I had feared from the start is the case: this feels exactly like the baked blush formulas from 2016 that I didn’t like. It feels a bit heavy when applied and I always found I had little control to get the cheek look I wanted.
What does it look like on the face?

On the cheeks this is pretty but I feel it looks again differen. On the cheeks this pulls very warm as if those tiny specks of brown suddently start to show up more. Where I get little to no bronze in a finger swatch, with a brush I pick up more of the pan and I get such a strong warm, bronziness to this shade that it looks completely different. And that was another reason why I never liked these baked marbled product: looks stunning in the pan, but you just never know what shade you’re going to get.
Should you buy Laura Geller blush in Pink Buttercream?

I really think that depends on who you are and what makeup your prefer. I think that by now there are baked blush formulas that perform better. Things like Rare Beauty or Hourglass are lighterweight and don’t feel as heavy. They also apply more evenly onto the face. I even feel the drugstore does it better as I have a few baked blushes from Catrice that I absolutely adore.
So while I can see there is a market for this type of product, this isn’t exactly for me. Is this pretty? Yes. Is it a musthave? No. Am I glad I got to try it? Very much so because I love trying out makeup and I love that this was such a thoughtful gift. I just don’t find this worth the money if I had to pay for this with my own hard earned cash.
