It is finally here: a new concealer from Catrice that I do enjoy! For years now Catrice has been releasing new concealers, but from the Cover & Care concealer, to the True Skin concealer, most of them were just not right for my dry skin. Too heavy, too cakey: it all just didn’t quite work for me. But this time round they have released the Catrice Instant Bright concealer and boy is it a joy to work with. Let me explain.
This product is available in 15 shades. Sadly the shade range is terrible in the deeper end of the spectrum. There are only three shades for darker skin tones, while the rest is all aimed at light to medium skin tones. It goes quite fair and there is a range of undertones: from neutral to warm and cool. I picked up a neutral and cool toned shade to see which one I would like best. I picked up shades 002N and 010C.

Well, let’s start with a very positive thing about this concealer and that is its price point. At just €4 this concealer is an absolute steal. I mean when it comes to concealer I like my more high end things as well, but I think this concealer proves that the drugstore can do really nice things in this type of product. This is now widely available in Europe, but it could be a while until it is rolled out further internationally. What does this concealer have to offer?
This concealer makes a lot of promises: it promises to combine makeup with skincare properties, last for 18hrs AND be easy to use. That’s a lot to promise, but I find it to be true. This is very hydrating concealer that is great for my dry skin. It has a lightweight texture that blends easily but still has a medium coverage that covers what I need it to cover. It lasts great all day with no creasing, but it does smudge my mascara a bit. A small price to pay for a good hydrating concealer.
What does this concealer look like in a swatch?
The thing that stood out to me immediately was how wet this feels. It has two of my favorite skincare ingredients in: niacinamide and hyaluronic acid. So that’s probably why. But why I love this is because it does settle down and never creases on me. I only use a small amount though. I think if your aim is to build it up to full coverage you may not like this as much.
The shades I selected were spot on. 002N is to the left in this image and is lighter but also very yellow. A bit too yellow for me if I might add. So I went with 010C instead. This is the lightest cool toned shade which is a bit of a bummer, but sometimes I like picking a shade that has the right undertone for me rather than the depth. I can easily lighten this if I want and when sheered out it doesn’t look too dark at all. And I am just over using very light concealers for brightening as well.
What does this concealer look like on the face?
Here you can see the kind of coverage it gives. I never apply concealer to my lids because it would just end up creasing terribly. I do like how it brightens my undereye but without it being super light and it does blend in seamlessly as well. It sets down instantly too but I do go in with a touch of powder just to make sure it stays. I love the way this looks and feels on my skin. So much so that most of this week I didn’t even wear foundation. Just this by itself with a bit of powder has been my go to look all week.
Should you buy the Catrice Instant Bright Serum concealer?
I love this new concealer from Catrice! It just ticks all of the boxes for what I look for in a concealer: good coverage, lightweight, easy to blend, long wear time AND it is non-drying on my super dry winter skin.
