One of my favorite fragrance brands? The Maison Margiela Replica line. I have quite a few. Had some testers, tried some, tested them some more in store and then ultimately made some choices. The brands offers several sizes and one size they offer is a 10 ml travel size bottle. And sometimes I like buying those to see how much I actually end up wearing the fragrance. So I did that with both Jazz Club and By the Fireplace.

From the line I have five fragrances in my collection today, but I used to own six. Beach Walk was not a favorite and I decluttered it. I found a much more perfect green and fresh fragrance in Matcha Meditation, which is easily one of my most worn spring/ summer fragrances. But how do I feel about these warmer, cozier and boozier offerings from the brand? Let’s discuss.
Review: Maison Margiela Replica travel size perfume Jazz Club & By the Fireplace
While Maison Margiela Replica fragrances do not come cheap, I like how they have these 10 ml and also the 30 ml bottles so you can try things out. These 10 ml bottles retail for €30. That is a lot of money for a fragrance and if you commit to the full size it’s €140. That will be cheaper in the long run than buying these small ones, but I like them for travel AND they are a great way to see how much you actually wear them. And with the Replica fragrances I find they last well enough on me and a little goes a long way. So my bottles have been lasting for years.
What do these fragrances have to offer?

In case you don’t know Maison Margiela Replica fragrances are meant to smell like nostalgic settings. From a walk on the beach to a 1920s jazz club: it has a scent for every time of the day and for every occasion. In this review I am showcasing Jazz Club (x2) and By the Fireplace. I got the more vintage looking bottle of Jazz Club as a free gift with purchase and I decided to just throw it in here. In a way By the Fireplace and Jazz Club are quite similar fragrances as they are quite warm and cozy in their overall vibe. But there are of course differences.
What are the notes like in these fragrances?

According to Fragrantica, Jazz Club is mix of warm peppery notes as well as some fresh citrus ones, boozy ones and warm tobacco and vanilla bean. Here are the exact notes:
- Top: Pink Pepper, Neroli, Lemon
- Middle: Rum, Java Vetiver Oil, Clary Sage
- Base: Tobacco Leaf, Vanilla Bean, Styrax
What appeals to me the most with this one are the pink pepper, rum, vanilla and tobacco notes. To me they make for the most intoxicating warm hug and I love wearing this in the fall/ winter season.
By the Fireplace is another pepper based fragrance (I love me a pink pepper note), but here the freshness comes from more pine and chestnut related notes. There is also a more balsam/ cedar like vibe to it as it has a more earthy rather than more of a gourmande base. These are the exact notes:
- Top: Cloves, Pink Pepper, Orange Blossom
- Middle: Chestnut, Guaiac Wood, Juniper
- Base: Vanilla, Peru Balsam, Cashmeran
While I love the booziness of Jazz Club, By the Fireplace is softer and less sharp. It is more like a fall day in a cozy sweater. Literally like you would do if you had a fireplace: all you need is a book and cup of tea. Another fall/ winter staple for me.
Should you buy the Maison Margiela Replica fragrances?
I think these smaller travel size fragrances can be worth it if you aren’t sure on what fragrance to get from the range. By now there is a vast array of nostalgic smelling fragrances to choose from, so picking your favorites can be hard. This way I feel you get to try more from the range without breaking the bank and if you don’t like it, it won’t be a waste of a bottle. So I think these are great and once mine are gone both of these are contenders for being purchased as a full size or a 30 ml bottle for sure.
