Let’s review another product I love but that I had never reviewed yet. This sometimes happens: I find something I love and then I just can’t fit it into my upload schedule. But today the day has finally come to award the Dior Backstage Glow Face Palette in Universal it’s very own review. Let me explain why this is the one and only face palette I still really use.

I think this may have been the first face palette Dior released in their backstage line. I could be wrong, but there are definitely more of them around now than when I first bought this. There are three shades part of the regular line and there are some that are released for special occasions and limited editions. The 2024 holiday release tempted me at first, but then I swatched it in store and realized I only wanted it for one shade. So I opted out of that one. That doesn’t mean I don’t love this one to pieces.
Review: Dior Backstage Glow Face Palette in Universal
Where I live in The Netherlands Dior is pretty widely available. Pretty much any store with a luxury makeup section sells Dior. Whether they sell the Backstage collection depends. That usually only happens in larger stores in bigger towns so this may be a bit harder to find than some other Dior products. It retails for around €55. That is a lot of money for a single face palette, but it’s Dior so it is going to be pricey.
What does this product have to offer?

This is a four pan face palette that has a glowy finish to each of the products. If you don’t like a glowy, subtle cheek, you won’t like this. However, I love a bit of glow so where some people may look at this and just see a bunch of highlighters, I actually use this for highlighter, blush and bronzer. It has become my perfect travel face palette and I have taken it on many trips.
What does this look like in a swatch?

The shade Universal is the lightest and best for fair skin out of the bunch that Dior offers regularly. The other two shades are both very warm toned and aimed at medium or deep skin tones. Those also seem to focus more on true highlighter shades. This one seems to be the most versatile to me. I use the two bronze shades mixed as a bit of bronzer. The pink makes for a great blush and the white gold makes for a great highlighter as a finishing touch.
What does this look like on the face?

On the cheeks this gives a glowy but subtle finish. For many people this may be a bit meh to be fair, but I love it. Because it is subtle I can keep piling this on and it will never look crazy. I love how the shades work together and the tones of these products go with ever makeup look I do. So indeed a truly universal palettes that can not only work with many different makeup looks, but will also appeal to lots of people as people with deeper skin tones can still use this but as a highlighter.
Should you buy the Dior Backstage Glow face palette?

I really love this product. I wasn’t using it much at first but as I traveled more this year I feel this has really helped me tone down the amount of makeup I pack for a trip. It’s simply a four in one palette which means I don’t have to pack it separately. The packaging is slim and sleek so it is easy to carry around too. So yes this is a great product but it is still very expensive for what you get.
