Nearly a year ago now I reviewed the Kayali Yum Pistachio Gelato fragrance. And that was a surprise love for me. I normally don’t go for sweet fragrances and the Kayali line leans towards a more gourmande vibe that I don’t always want. But after the success of the previous fragrance I decided to smell some more. And my nose found Vanilla 28. Let’s review it.

One of my reasons for not going ga-ga for the Kayali fragrance initially was because they were hard to find and quite expensive. This fragrance is available in three sizes and I was happy to pick up the small travel size. This way I can test it out and see how much I like it before comitting to a large bottle.
Fragrance review: Kayali Vanilla 28
The three sizes available are this 10 ml, 50 ml and 100 ml. The 10 ml still retails for over €30 though so this isn’t cheap. Of course the smaller sizes are not the best value for money, for that you really need to go with the larger sizes. However, I have plenty of fragrance already so I love buying the smaller sizes so I can have more options. But if you’re using this as your everyday perfume, you may want to opt for the larger size to make it worth it.
What does this perfume have to offer?

According to fragrantica these are the notes of the fragrance:
- Top notes: Vanilla Orchid & Jasmine.
- Middle notes: Brown sugar & tonka bean
- Base notes: Amber, Amberwood, Musk, Patchouli
Judging this by its notes I wouldn’t have clocked this as something I might like. It is described as an oriental vanilla. I get a lot of vanilla and sugar and the base notes I don’t really pick up on on my skin. On me it smells more like straight up vanilla extract, which actually smells a lot better than I had expected.
Should you buy the Kayali Vanilla 28
Will I be wearing this as an everday perfume? Not any time soon. It is far too sweet and heady for an everyday fragrance for me. I love it for the occasional vibe especially in the winter time. Because the scent reminds me of sugar cookies, I think it is a great fragrance for the festive season.
