Have you ever tried a foundation that you love? Only to find out much later that there is a matching concealer? Well, that’s what happened to me and the Estee Lauder Futurist line. I tried out the Futurist Hydrarescue foundation years ago and it’s been a favorite. One I love enough to even make the effort to use it up completely. So when I found out about the concealer I just had to try it.
Available in 30 shades this is a great hydrating concealer. The overall range does pull quite yellow which I don’t mind with a concealer as I want it to cover up my redness but if anything with a hint of warmth doesn’t look right on you this may be a skip. I struggled finding the lighter shades in store here too, so I picked mine up from the UK earlier this year.

One of the reasons why I wanted to try this in store was because I wasn’t sure about the shades. Overall Estee Lauder isn’t know for being super inclusive and I struggled finding my shade for years. And at €39 a pop it’s an expensive mistake to make if I had bought it blindly online. This concealer is availble through all retailers that stock Estee Lauder.
What does this concealer have to offer?
Like the foundation version, the Estee Lauder Futurist concealer is a hydrating formula that blends easily into the skin. This is also infused with skincare ingredients such as vitamin C and hyaluronic acid. This makes the formula lightweight and easy to use. The finish isn’t super matte but also not super shiny. So this can be a great hydrating formula for those that don’t like an overly glowy look. The applicator has a special shape which makes the application precise in the areas where you want to apply it.
How does this concealer swatch?
In a swatch you can see just how yellow this is. Again, not something I am too fussed with as it can actually help color correct at the same time. It has a thin formula that sheers out easily. There is a hint of glow but this is devoid of any sparkles whatsoever so this creates a natural look. It can be a little bit streaky at times so I would recommend patting this in with a brugh or your finger for the most natural effect.
What does this look like on the face?
I like shade 1C despite the yellow shade because it acts as a brightener at the same time for me. I love how easily this blends, how natural it looks and how it doesn’t crease on me. There is very little product on the applicator which means you can never overdo it and you only apply a very small amount of product. It does mean you have to dip it in a few times do apply this on all the areas of your face that need correcting.
Should you buy the Estee Lauder Futurist concealer?
I think this is a solid concealer that will be beneficial to many people. It’s easy to use and has a fairly inclusive shade range. If you are in the market for a good hydrating concealer this may be one to try. But at this price point I have now tried several concealers that are all very similar and you really don’t need all of them. If you are looking for a high end concealer this is as good as the YSL All Hours and Natasha Denona Hy-Glam. The only difference is that the YSL comes with heaps more product and the ND actually comes in a pinky shade.
