L’Oreal True Match concealer review

The L’Oreal True Match line is one of the best complexion lines at the drugstore. I used to own the foundation and loved it, but after trying so many other things I decided to eventually declutter it. But when L’Oreal announced they were coming out with a new True Match concealer I was all ears. So I purchased it the first chance I got.

The True Match range is great for a number of reasons: the products are fuss free and it was one of the first lines at the drugstore that did different undertones and an extended shade range. The last rendition in the tinted moisturizer version wasn’t my favorite because the shade wasn’t quite right and the packaging messy, but overall the L’Oreal True Match line has been a staple in my makeup collection for years.

Review: L’Oreal True Match The One concealer

My one gripe with L’Oreal in The Netherlands? How expensive they are. Because as good as this sounds L’Oreal’s extended shade ranges are typically not available here and only at a huge mark up. At €15.99 this is yet again at least a third up to twice as expensive as the exact same product in the US depending on where you buy this. *Enter a sigh* When will we ever get truly affordable makeup?

What does this concealer have to offer?

In the ads I can see online the main selling feature for this product is the doe foot applicator. We have seen more brands coming out with this triangular shape but this one is BIG. I like it though, because it means I can really get into those inner corners. This should give medium coverage while camouflaging everything you need. It has some skincare ingredients which includes caffeine which helps to life the under eye area. This should blend easily and last all day.

What does this look like in a swatch?

I decided to buy shade R1, which is one of the lightest shades available. However it isn’t that light in the end. It pulls quite yellow and I decided to use it now before it would become too dark. While the shade skews much darker than in the swatches I can find online, I did like the product itself. Let me explain.

What does this look like on the face?

On the face this product looks excellent. It has the coverage I like making light work of the darkness in my inner corners. It has a satin finish meaning this isn’t fully matte but it also isn’t super glowy, but a happy medium for a natural result. It doesn’t smudge or crease more than other concealers do but I do apply a bit of eyeshadow primer on my under eye area to help with that. Overall, this evens things out, it lasts all day and looks seamless on the skin.

Should you buy the L’Oreal True Match concealer?

The L’Oreal True Match The One concealer is one I wished I loved more. Yes this is a good concealer, but it pulled much darker than I had anticipated. The shade selection isn’t great but that doesn’t mean the product doesn’t work. As far as a concealer goes this is one that does exactly what I want it to do and dare I say it: I think this is a pretty good dupe for the YSL All Hours Concealer.
