When Essence releases a new powder I of course have to try it. I have loved their Skinlovin’ Sensitive Powder for years now, and I keep hoping that their new releases can beat that. The Flawless Skin Trio loose powder is great but sadly it is not for me. Let me explain!

This powder certainly has a lot going for it. Not only is it a loose powder which is very on trend at the minute it also has three shades. There is a peach, a pink and a lavender powder and you can use them together or just one of the shades. The packaging comes with a little sifter that you can use to block two of the three shades so you can only use the purple if you want to.
Review: Essence Flawless Skin Trio Loose Powder
Another great thing about this powder is its affordability. At €3.95 this is cheap as chips. It comes with 8 grams of product which is decent for a powder. And with loose powder a little goes a long way at least for me so I know I could get lots of use out of this. I bought mine through Boozyshop, but this has since been released in other webshop as well, so definitely give it a Google to see if this is available for you.
What does this powder have to offer?

One thing I love about this powder is the shade: the shade is light enough that it doesn’t lead to darkening of my concealer or foundation. With loose powders that is sometime and issue I run into and this doesn’t do that. You can use it to set your makeup or to color correct if you focus on just one shade. This is a setting powder though, which means that this is supposed to keep your makeup in place all day.
How does it swatch?

This powder swatches well. You can see that cooler undertone it has and that is why I feel the shade works really well for me. I have used the three shades mixed more so than seperately as I don’t need to color correct much on my face. The powder has a very matte finish though and that is the reason why this isn’t quite right for me.
What does this look like applied to the face?

In the before and after you can see the effect this powder has. It certainly evens things out and mattifies the face. It still looks natural but on my skin and nose I find this too mattifying. It instantly makes my face look flat and adds almost a chalky quality to my makeup which I am not a huge fan of. If you love very mattifying powders this may be great for you but this is a bit too heavy duty for me.
Should you buy the Essence Flawless Skin Trio loose powder?

Objectively I think this is a great powder. It does what most people will want a powder to do: setting makeup and making your makeup last. For me it is a bit too powdery looking. So even though the shade of this is amazing for my skin tone, I don’t love the finish enough to keep using this. If you love a matte finish powder this will be a great one for you at an affordable price point.
