There are makeup products that I love and then I use them and just don’t review them. But sometimes those are some of my favorite makeup products in my collection. Today we are tackling one of those long overdue reviews: the Pat McGrath Divine Blush in Divine Rose I have owned for a while and it has been THE mauve toned blush of choice ever since I tried it. Here’s why.

Since their launch the Divine Blush range has been expanded quite a bit. There are now 13 shades available in this powder blush format, but don’t forget about the duo blushes either. Divine Rose was on of the original shades and I picked this one up when these first launched. Divine Rose is described as a cool mauve rose tone and I would say it is!
Review: Pat McGrath Divine Blush in Divine Rose
At €44 a pop these blushes don’t come cheap. Pat McGrath is of course one of the more expensive brands on the market and the blushes are priced accordingly. As much as I appreciate the brand I have also found that not all products are right for me. My biggest pet peeve: the packaging. In order to tell them apart you need to keep the cardboard sleeve which just makes them a hassle to use.
What does this blush have to offer?

This is a powder blush formula that has a demi-matt finish but some shades to have shimmer. Divine Rose is one of the more matte offerings. As is to be expected of this price point this blush is easy to use and super blendable. These can be build up in intensity to blush up your cheeks to your heart’s desire. Is it revolutionary in the world of blush? No and at this price point it is easy to expect miracles.
What does this look like in a swatch?

This blush doesn’t swatch the best but it best applied with a powder brush for the full effect. The shade is amazing though. It looks a bit deep and warm in the pan but once on the cheeks this is simply one of the best cool toned mauve shades I have ever found. I have kept this over so many other of my mauve toned blushes for a reason. For me this is the one mauve blush to beat them all.
What does this blush look like on the cheeks?

This blush is soft, smooth and barely there with a first application. Apply a bit more and it because the perfect mauve blush. At this price point I wouldn’t expect less, but still you never know. The shade is spot on: not too warm but still blushed enough and not so cool toned that it no longer looks like a natural flush. It is the perfect in between. Wear time is all day: this is a powder blush afterall and on me those do not tend to fade.
Should you buy the Pat McGrath Divine Blush?

As much as I love both of my Pat McGrath blushes in my collection and I have kept them in my declutters over other blushes in my collection, I feel these are not necessarily right for everyone.
First up there is the price point: these are expensive for what they are and you can find equally performing blushes at less than half the price. You don’t need to pay this much money for a good product.
Secondly the shade selection has its limitations. Yes, more shades have been added, but most are warm toned (as is 90% of the makeup world) and that makes it less attractive if you have a strong cool undertone yourself.
For me this ended up being a great find and I will love this until I hit pan and eventually use it up. I have bought fewer powder blushes in years of late precisely because I have my favorites that I just want to use more. And this is one of them.
