Is it a highlighter? Is it a bronzer? Well that’s what we’re here to see. Because Catrice has launched a new product in their Holiday Skin range and they call this a 4 in 1 luminizer. And while this is a glowy product, I love using as bronzer. You be the judge!

As far as I can figure out this product only comes in one shade. So while the brand calls this 4 in 1 and says this can be a blush, highlighter, contour and bronzer, I think this can be one of those things depending on your skin tone. On my skin tone it is a bronzer, but on some people it might be a blush or a highlight. A contour? Not so much as it is far too golden toned and I definitely don’t think this will be great for deeper skin tones. So misnamed? For sure. Bad product? Not entirely.
Review: Catrice Holiday Skin 4 in 1 bronzer 010 Catching Sunrays
Let’s unpack the price point first. This comes with 10 ml of product which is standard for a liquid bronzer and retails for €4.69. So compared to other liquid bronzers this really isn’t too bad in terms of price. I do wish the brand made more shades. Because the marketing on this is misleading to say the least. Because the images on the Catrice website showcase this product on a range of skintones and while beautiful in those images, I don’t think this will work for everyone.
What does this product have to offer?

Catrice promises this product can be used in 4 ways. It can contour, blush, highlight and bronze up the face. So it should be a one stop shop and it really isn’t. In this swatch you can see this is a very dark shade with a lot of golden glow. This can work great on some skin tones, but definitely not all. The formula is lightweight and blendable so it definitely sheers out. On me it is mainly a sunkissed glow but it definitely wouldn’t work as blush or a highlight on me. Let alone a contour.
What does this look like in a swatch?

Here you can see this is a little less intimidating when you start sheering it out. The shade is an orange bronze with a lot of warmth with will muddy up on anyone with a cooler undertone. The gold shine it has will look stunning on warmer skin tones, but it may not be as universally flattering as the brand is marketing this to be. Yes it is sheer and a little goes a long way and so the shade is adaptable, but I just wish this was a touch easier to use.
What does this look like on the skin?

On the skin you can see that the intense shine in the swatch isn’t as noticeable. When you only use a little bit this can look amazing. But it is easy to apply too much and then you still need to blend it carefully to make it work better. Is this great for underpainting? Yes. I think it would work better under than over makeup for me. But that’s not a technique I love for myself. However, once I get it where I want it to be it makes for a great glowy look that reminds me a lot of some of my favorite bronzers.
Should you buy the Catrice Holiday Skin 4 in 1 bronzer?

This product has some pros and cons. The pros: the shade works a lot better for me than I had expected in a swatch. It sheers out beautifully, lasts all day and gives a great sunkissed glow. The cons: the shade isn’t universal as the brand promises, it is not 4 in 1 and you only need a little bit to get the desired effect, which makes it a bit difficult to use. So this mainly suffers from bad marketing and a limited shade range. However, if this product works for your skin tone I think you will have a great bronzer that will last a long time.
