Has Catrice nailed the cool toned blush trend? It certainly looks like it with their new release of the Blush Affair Cream & Powder palette. This small blush palette boasts two blushes for the price of one: a cream and a powder in complimentary shades. If this is any good than Catrice will be nailing the current cool toned trend and at an affordable price point too. Let’s test it out!

This palette is one of three. The other two are quite warm toned. Peach Passion is a peach as the name would suggest but in the online images it looks very orange. Great for all the warm toned folks. Stunning Strawberry is a reddish tone that looks like it could be great for deeper skin tones. So Catrice is doing quite an inclusive shade range with just three palettes. I’m impressed.
Review: Catrice Blush Affair Cream & Powder Palette in Pleasing Pink
What also impresses me is the price point. At €5.49 this is an affordable blush even if it was merely a single. But no, we get two shades in two textures for that price. With just 6 grams of product you do get less than a standard blush size per pan, but since these compliment each other really well I think this wouldn’t be too much of an issue.
What does this have to offer?

So the first true quality of this palette is the slime line packaging. Small and easy to carry this is great for people on the go. The fact that you get both a cream and a powder means you can easily get lots of use out of both. The cream has more of a sheen to it, whereas the powder is more matte. So depending on your mood you can completely customize your blush look. Wear the cream for a healthy flush, just the powder for a pop of color or combine them for a more intense blushed look.
What does this look like in a swatch?

Swatched these both show up as very pigmented products. The cream (on the right) especially is intensely pigmented and a little goes a long way. The powder holds its own, but is a bit sheer which means it is super easy to blend and build up in intensity.
The only real difference here (apart from the texture) is the shade. The powder is a touch ever so slightly warmer than the cream. The cream is a true barbie pink with a blue undertone. As if Dior Rosy Glow as turned into the cream product. The powder however has a touch more warmth which makes it super flattering as well.
What does this look like on the cheeks?

Because I already showed you how these layered in my first impression video, in this review I am showing the two products seperately. I also wanted to test out the wear time of both of these seperately to see if the cream and powder would hold up equally well. And they do! So that is a great plus.
On the cheeks you can see the cream (on the left) has far more impact than the powder does. The powder is subtle and barely there and the warmish undertone in the swatch isn’t as noticeable once sheered out and applied with a blush. The cream is intense and a great cool toned option if you want an impactful blushed look.
Should you buy the Catrice Blush Affair palette?

I think this is one of the best blushes Catrice has released in recent years. Yes they can do a solid blush formula but to ace both a cream and a powder in one go is quite a feat. So I am happy with this little affordable blush. If you were looking to hop onto the cool toned blush trend on the cheap I would certainly think of giving this a go?
