Catrice Bright & Blur loose powder review

You know I like a good Catrice product and this time their release is a bit more curated than usual. That’s why there won’t be a tonne of reviews with the new Fall/ Winter products but still quite a few. One such new product? The Catrice Bright & Blur loose powder. Here is the review.

As of right now this product is only available in one shade. That is a bit of a shame because this color isn’t great for everyone. What intrigued me about it is the fact that it is a pink powder and it is loose. While I prefer a pressed powder for ease of use, loose powders are currently everywhere and I felt I could give it a while. These are my thoughts.

Review: Catrice Bright & Blur loose powder

At €5.49 this powder isn’t hugely expensive. It is quite a decent price considering you get nearly 5 grams of product. The compact feels cheap though but it does come with a sifter which makes it easy to tap some powder into the cap when you use this. This does make it less travel friendly as the holes just keep dispensing powder every single time you shake this up.

What does this product have to offer?

As far as loose powders go this seemed like it could be a good one but I am not a huge fan. Not only do they take more time to apply, they can severely set off my allergies and make me sneeze and cough as the powder easily goes everywhere. My favorite way to apply this is therefore with a powder puff as that makes the kick up of this the most minimal. This product should mainly mattify your makeup look while being undetectable on the skin.

How does this swatch?

As you can see here in the swatch this powder may be matte but there is a hint of a sheen to it as well. Therefore my hopes were that this wouldn’t be too drying on the skin. The pink shade also makes it seem quite brightening, but alas I find this shade is just a touch too dark and actually darkens my concealer underneath which makes for not a great look. This may be best if you have warm undertone and light to medium skin but for my fair skin with a cool to neutral undertone it just isn’t great.

What does this look like on the face?

Another downside for me is how mattifying this is. I just prefer a dewy base on myself as my dry skin doesn’t love anything that is mattifying. While this doesn’t look heavy or cakey as it is so finely milled, I don’t love how matte this looks. It does blur and even out the sking but I lose any natural glow I might have had which I don’t love. Additionally as this starts to work with my skin’s chemistry throughout the day it does bunch up and looks cakey in places where I experience dry patches.

Should you buy the Catrice Bright & Blur loose powder?

I think this is a great affordable powder for people with normal to oily skin and a slightly deeper skin tone than mine. For me it is just a touch too dark and too mattifying for my dry skin. Overall I think this is a great affordable powder but it wasn’t quite right for me, which is something I have found with many loose powders. Does it do what it promises to do though? Most certainly! So if you are looking for a drugstore loose powder that doesn’t break the bank I think you’d be safe to try it.
