Is it a corrector? Is it a concealer? Or is it a bit of both? That’s what I was asking myself when I first spotted the new Essence Correct & Conceal Under Eye Brightening in Light. The bottle looks peach and therefore a pretty good concealer shade, but when I got it in it looked a lot more pink. Only one way to find out and that is to test it out. Let’s review it!

This isn’t the only shade in the range. In total there are four and they are tailored to different skin tones and that is where my confusion comes from. With most correctors you get colors: a green, a yellow, a peach, a purple. But this product looks like it comes in skin tone shades rather than true corrector shades. Let’s get stuck in.
Review: Essence Correct & Conceal Under Eye Brightening in Light
First things first, we need to talk price point. This retails for €3.00, which really isn’t a very big amount of money. So when this works, it can be a great affordable option for a corrector/ concealer. At the moment these new Essence products are being rolled out so you may not be able to buy it yet but this will be coming to stores very very soon.
What does this product have to offer?

I was surprised at how pink toned this was! When I got it home and swatched it I realized this was more of a corrector rather than a concealer, but with more of a concealer feel to it. Because this shade isn’t so pink that you can only use under other products. This can definitely be worn by itself without it looking weird.
What does this look like in a swatch?

In a swatch it looks like a soft pink tone that would be great for brightening areas of the face. I find this works best on the under eye area as it can look a touch off on some of the more red areas of my face. It is simply best at correcting my dark circles because of its pink tone and a bit less good at covering up redness for the same reason. That said, it has a lovely creamy formula that is easy to blend and lasts a long time.
What does this look like on the face?

Here you can see what this concealer achieves in terms of coverage. It definitely covers, brightens and corrects my undereye area very well. It looks good on the under eye for hours. This isn’t super prone to creasing but it can smudge your mascara due to the creamy formula. However, the wear time of the concealer itself is great and a little goes a long way.
Should you buy the Essence Correct & Conceal?

If you like a light and brightened under eye than this is great. With the rest of my makeup done it doesn’t look like I have a swab of pink on my face, which is great. However, whether the other shades are going to be as good I have no idea of. Since this one is a bit weird, I am expecting the other four to be a bit off as well. Still, this is a good product from Essence that I enjoy but not enough to go out and buy again if I had to ever repurchase this.
