The new Essence collection is here! So that means I have a lot of reviews in store for you. Today we are kicking things off with the Essence Baby Got Holo highlighter. This cream highlighter is brand new in their Fall/ Winter collection. Let’s discuss whether this is worth your money.

From what I can tell this product is currently available in just one shade. It is quite a universal shade though as it has a sheer base so I think a lot of people could wear this. It is part of the Baby Got range in the stick format which we already saw in blushes and bronzers, but the brand has expanded on the idea and added a highlighter. Here are my thoughts.
Review: Essence Baby Got Holo Glow highlighter
At just €3.50 this is a very affordable product, but I also feel you don’t get a lot. In the picture above I twisted the stick up all the way as far it would go. So you really don’t get a lot. And I feel you do need quite a bit to get this to show up on the skin. With daily use, you could therefore run out of this very easily.
What does this product have to offer?

The Baby Got Holo Glow is a cream highlighter. The bronzer and blush in this range I enjoyed. They are small and easy to use provided you warm up the stick before applying it to the face. I personally apply it to my fingers first and then dab it on to help with an even application. The formula feels a bit stiff at first, but it melts down easily. The name can be misleading: this is NOT a holographic highlighter, but there is definitely a pink to gold shift.
What does this swatch like?

Essence Baby Got Holo Glow highlighter is a highlighter that has some sparkle to it, but I feel this isn’t super noticeable on the skin. The effect is mainly a soft glow that has a warm sheer undertone with a pink flash. It can therefore be used if you have warm or cool toned skin as I feel the shade that you see the most depends on your undertone.
What does this look like applied to the cheeks?

What I find a bit of a miss with this one is the fact that it is very very subtle. Almost too subtle as it barely shows up. Yes, there is no visible sparkle but I feel I need to apply a lot to make this truly show up and be noticeable on the skin. That said, no matter how much you apply this will never look crazy so if you prefer a natural look this may be a pretty product for you.
Should you buy the Essence Baby Got Holo Glow highlighter?

As affordable as this is, I don’t think this is necessarily worth it. You get very little product and with how much product you need to get a noticeable effect you would go through this in a heartbeat with daily use. While I like the formula and appreciate Essence expanding their Baby Got range I don’t think this is a must have in anyone’s makeup collection.
