This isn’t my first time trying Essence skincare. In fact, the affordable drugstore makeup brand has been doing skincare for a while and I have tried a lot. Some more successful than others, with most products being not so great for my late 30s skin. That said, I keep finding their products attractive as it is affordable and they always play into skincare trends. So let’s have a look at the Essence peach serum.

The Essence skincare range is called Hello, Good Stuff. Their promise is to offer skincare at a drugstore price point. I don’t think any product is over €5. That said, many of the products sound good on paper, but may not offer enough active ingredients if your skin needs a bit more. I would say this is great for people in their teens and early 20s who want to get started with skincare, but if you want to tackle actual skin issues the line doesn’t have enough to offer. This peach serum is no exception to that rule.
Skincare review: Hello, good stuff Bi-Phase Oil Serum Peach Water & Peptides
This oil serum is €5 at the drugstore but can be found for cheaper online. This low of a price point means this is a fuss free product that gets the job done, but I find the ingredients usually a bit diluted. Spending a bit more will usually give you products that do more. However, I do find it definitely doesn’t make my skin worse either.
What does this product have to offer?

This product promises a few things: it contains peach water and peptides to make skin feel supple and smooth out your texture. It should moisturize the skin and help keep your skin in a good condition.
This is the ingredient list:
INGREDIENTS: AQUA (WATER), CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE, GLYCINE SOJA (SOYBEAN) OIL, OCTYLDODECANOL, GLYCERIN, PRUNUS PERSICA (PEACH) FRUIT WATER, TOCOPHEROL, HELIANTHUS ANNUUS (SUNFLOWER) SEED OIL, CARNOSINE, XANTHAN GUM, BETA-CAROTENE, DAUCUS CAROTA SATIVA (CARROT) ROOT EXTRACT, SODIUM CHLORIDE, SODIUM SULFATE, LACTIC ACID, CITRIC ACID, PHENOXYETHANOL, SODIUM BENZOATE, PARFUM (FRAGRANCE), LIMONENE, LINALOOL, CI 14700 (RED 4), CI 15510 (ORANGE 4).
As you can see this contains actual peach extract, but also quite a bit of fragrance and that is why I don’t love this any more.
What is my experience using this product?

With this product being titled an oil serum I was curious to see what the texture would be like. Rather than an oil, it feels very watery and thin when you apply it. That means it is absorbed quickly by the skin, but it also means there isn’t enough here that my dry skin likes necessarily. In my morning skincare routine this worked as a good first step, but this isn’t rich enough to give my skin the nourishment it needs. What’s more the peach fragrance is so intense that it gave me a headache at times.
Should you buy the Essence peach serum?

I thinkt the peach serum by Essence is one that sounds great on paper. For me it wasn’t rich enough and the fragrance made this smell sickly sweet. Therefore this wasn’t the product I was expecting it to be. While this definitely isn’t totally ineffective, I also don’t think this is the kind of effectiveness I want my skincare to have. Alas, a fuss free skincare products for sure, but not one that actually adds anything to my routine.
