Not all expensive makeup is better. I have found this time and time again as I have been trying, testing and reviewing makeup for the past 10 years. But sometimes, a luxury product is not only worth the price point, but it is also so different from anything you’ve tried before that it is a standout product in your makeup collection. The YSL All Hours concealer is one such product. Here is why.

Let’s talk about the main drawback of this product first of all. I struggled finding my shade in this concealer. I ended up going for LC1 as it seemed the least yellow and warm toned and still right for my skin tone. However, nothing in the line is truly cool toned, most of it is light to medium and not fair skin friendly at all even though the shade range seems decent.

Another downside for some people may be the price point. This retails for €45 at full price. That is a lot for concealer: it is even more than most foundations. But you do get a lot of product. This comes with 15 mls of product which is as much as a small foundation. Most concealers come with 5 – 7.5 mls of product so this is two to three times as much so that also goes into the price point. But why is this worth it?
What does this concealer have to offer?

The first reason why this is special is the packaging. I have never had a concealer with a doe foot applicator as pleasant as this. It has a diamond shape which is great for getting everywhere where you need it to go. There is also a little well in the doe foot that holds just the right amount of product every time.
Other benefits this has is the fact that this is longwearing and a true work horse of a product. This covers, sculpts and improves you skin all in one go. It is great at covering dark circles and if you have more than one shade you can use that handy applicator to contour and highglight to your heart’s content. Additionally this has skincare ingredients so this isn’t just longwearing it is also hydrating.
What does this in a swatch?

As mentioned I struggled finding my shade. I initially even passed up on purchasing this as I wasn’t sure what shade to get. When this first launched a lot of the testers were also ransacked so I couldn’t really decide. But I found LC1 to be a good shade match.
I love the thin formula as it is thin, yet high coverage and it works very well on my under eye area and other parts of the face. I wore this is in hot humid summer weather and my makeup didn’t budge.
What is the coverage like?

Here you can see the full effect of the concealer on my under eye. I always struggle with blue circles around my eyes due to having more deepset eyes. This concealer makes light work of covering up these dark circles and it doesn’t look heavy dry or cakey. This effect is maintained throughout the day and this never even feels like I am wearing everything. With this a little goes a long way as well making that 15 mls of product stretch even further.
Should you buy the YSL All Hours concealer?

This YSL All Hours concealer is true magic in a bottle. I think this is well worth the price point. The formula is excellent and the product truly amazed me with its performance. It has innovative packaging and comes with so much product that this could be your go to concealer every day and not run out any time soon as well. So yes, this is definitely worth it, provided you can find your shade. Definitely go into store to find your shade match in the see of yellow and peaches this line has to offer.
