The third and final Asian beauty cushion foundation this month is by the brand Catkin. This brand came onto my radar due to a creator I saw on Tiktok. So when I was planning out my cushion foundation review, I knew I wanted to try this. The packaging is stunning, but how is the product itself?
I tested this out throughout the past week and we have had lots of great, but warm weather. This could of course affect my review of this product, but I can already tell you: this held up really well in the summer temperatures. It comes in three shades and I am testing out the lightest one: C01 Natural.

This is not a super expensive foundation which is a plus. At around €20 this is a decent price point. It also comes with a refill, so once you have used up the first one, you always have a backup to use after it. Which for the price point is really good, because while most cushions I am trying come with refills, not all of them do. So this is a nice perk.
What does this product have to offer?
First things first: I wanted to try this as it has such stunning packaging. The product inside is also good, but there is little attention to detail. For instance the sponge has a beautiful print, but the size is just a smidge too big to nicely fit onto the cushion. So everything I use this, I only get product on part of the sponge, making it more difficult to use.
Aside from that, this is a formula that has centella extract so there are some skincare benefits. It should be long-lasting while still be hydrating. It has a buildable medium coverage that should cover up everything including pores while still looking natural. This is best applied using the puff by gently dabbing it onto the areas on the face.
What does this swatch like?
Shade C01 natural is the lightest shade available and as you can see this is too dark and nearly green? It certainly doesn’t look right but overall this is a good product. It is medium coverage but still lightweight and natural looking. It has a slightly dewy finish which I like and it never looks heavy or cakey on my dry skin. It wears well throughout the day, even on hot days this stays put and it survives a workout class very easily too. So there isn’t much not to like here, but that shade… Let’s discuss.
What is the shade match like?
But the shade match is a total mess. It really doesn’t look dark in the cushion itself but it already looks yellow and green but on my face? It oxidizes into an orange shade that is at least 5 shades too dark for me. Can I make it work? Yes. With the rest of my makeup done it really isn’t too bad, but this isn’t even my shade at the end of summer, let alone at the start of it.
What is the coverage like?
Here you can see the coverage: as you can see this looks natural but the coverage is definitely more medium. You can also see how orange this looks on me. It’s just overall bad shade wise but formula? Stunning! It covers things up so well and it is so comfortable to wear that I actually used it every single day for a week just to give this a fair shot. No one told me my foundation looked too dark because if I bring it down my neck, I can definitely get away with it.
Should you buy the Catkin Summer Palace BB cushion?
As lovely as this is, I cannot wholeheartedly recommend this cushion foundation. The shades just aren’t right enough to cover a spectrum of skin tones if you aren’t a light/ medium tone. I really wished this shade was better for me because the formula and texture is sooo great. The coverage is great, the wearability is great and the finish is great. In short, this has a lot going for it, but it just isn’t quite right for me.
