Cream blush has been all the range these past few years and so Makeup by Mario couldn’t be left behind. When I first spotted the brand in store, these blushes instantly stood out but I couldn’t decide what shade to buy. It didn’t help that most of it was out of stock as well. So when I did find it again and was able to do some swatches I settled on Dusty Rose. This is my review for the Makeup by Mario Soft Pop Blush Stick.

Dustry Rose is the most neutral out of all shades available. There are 10 shades on the official website, but most Sephora’s here in Europe stock only 6. I was doubting between this and Raspberry which is a much brighter shade. Usually when I wear a cream blush that is what I prefer. But when push came to shove, I felt I would get the most use out of Dusty Rose so I decided to go with this warmer rosewood kind of shade.
Review: Makeup by Mario Soft Pop Blush Stick Dusty Rose
This isn’t a cheap product though: €35 is a lot for a blush. This does come with 10 grams of product which is more than most blushes and you do get a handy brush in the bottom so you could use this easily on the go. The question is of course: is this worth it? This is only my third Makeup by Mario product, so I was curious to find that out myself.
What does this product have to offer?

My main reason for being interested in this product was how easy it seemed to be in use. It is a sheer product with a bit of glow, but you can add more layers if you want to make it look more intense. While this is a cream blush that feels a bit sticky at first, I feel this settles down quickly and once it does it won’t budge. I do have dry skin so for me most cream and liquid cheek products are no issue but I feel that even if you would have oily skin you can make this work.
What does this look like in a swatch?

As you can see here Dusty Rose is a pretty rose shade with a touch of warmth but there is also a plummy undertone to this. That’s why it works for me. The mix of warm and cool makes this a perfect neutral blush on me and it goes with everything. The formula is easy to use, but I do use fingers to blend it in and I never use these products straight from the stick to ensure the most control. The light sheen this has means your cheeks will have a natural flush with a bit of a radiant dewy look.
What does this look like on the cheeks?

As you can see here, the result of this product is a very soft flushed look. That is, if you go in with one thin layer. You can apply more, which I have done as well but I love how you can easily manipulate this into the look that you desire. I do use fingers to apply this as I do most liquid and cream blushes. I will just rub some on my middle finger, then rub my middle fingers together and tap the product onto the skin. This to me gives the best result every time.
Should you buy the Makeup by Mario Soft Pop blush stick?

I really think this is a great blush. I love the glowy finish and I love that it wears a long time. Another great thing is how easy this is to work into the skin and build up as you go along. The shade is also stunning on me and I can wear it with almost every look I can possibly think of. So all in all this is a great product that is worth the money, but you definitely do not need to run out and get this.
