Jones Road Miracle Balm review

Jones Road Miracle Balm review

Jones Road is the brand that went viral last year after releasing their What the Foundation. Greatly misused and therefore a product that confused a lot of users, the brand has more products that are super effortless if you figure out the right way to make them work for you. Like the What the Foundation, the Miracle Balm blush is a great one stop shop: it adds glow and color to the cheeks but can also be used on the lips and eyes for a monochromatic look. Let’s review it.

The Jones Road Miracle Balm is a product that comes in a lot of shades, but technically you really only need one. The 12 shades available range from shimmery to more creamy formulas with shades recommended for different skin types. Tawny is recommended for medium to deep skin tones but as you will see this plummy brown shade is sheer enough to work on my fair skin as well.

Review: Jones Road Miracle Balm Tawny

One of the reasons why I don’t own more products by the brand are two-fold: it’s difficult to get and it’s fairly up there in price. At $38 these products do not come cheap and I can only purchase this from Liberty’s in London. That is not a huge problem as I travel to London every year, but it does add to the cost and I do not always want to shell out this much money for a makeup product during my travels.

What does the Miracle Balm have to offer?

Is it a blush? A lip tint? An creamy eyeshadow? Well it is a bit of all of those things as the Jones Road Miracle Balm definitely is an effortless one stop shop that can do all of that and more. The MUA at the counter recommended Tawny on me as it goes with my complexion well: the cooler plum undertone works well with my skin and where this can look a bit brown in a swatch I feel it looks far more cool toned on my lips and cheeks than I had expected.

How does this swatch?

When you look at this you may wonder: will this even do anything? Yes this is sheer and it seems as if there is barely any color but that’s exactly why this works. It is effortless, easy to use and just a great all rounder for people who don’t want to spend too much time doing their makeup.

This product is also great on mature skin. As we age our skin gets drier and this is a very balm like formula adding glow and hydration while at the same time adding a great pop of color that makes you look naturally flushed. The only downside? The fragrance. This smells strongly of a fruity zesty citrus which is pleasant to me but if you are sensitve to fragrance you may want to skip this one.

How does this apply?

Because this is a multi-use product I wanted to show you all the way you can apply this. Here it is on my cheeks: a warm rosy flush that works so well on my skin. On my lips it looks a bit cooler but still rosy and the formula is balmy enough that it won’t dry out your lips. On the eye I feel this is the least effective as it barely shows up and the formula leads to creasing.

The result? A very natural glowy effect that will appeal to many casual makeup users. The best way to apply this is with fingers. First you use a spatula to scoop up a bit of the product. Then use your fingers to warm up the product on the back of your hand and apply where you need it. Easy breezy and super quick too!

Should you buy Jones Road Miracle Balm?

There are a lot of positives for me with this product. There are a bunch of shades available so this can appeal to many people. I love the shade Tawny for my cheeks and eyes and the balmy formula with added skincare benefits means this never feels dry. It simply creates the most natural looking makeup look which I love for no makeup makeup days.

But this isn’t just a great product: there are some downside. The formula may be too rich if you have oily skin. It also isn’t the longest lasting and it can move your foundation around. If you swear by full coverage foundation this will not gel well with it. And finally there is that strong scent which I know not everyone will like.

Overall I really enjoy my Jones Road Miracle Balm but I also feel that I don’t necessarily need any more of these. This shade works well and you get a lot of product (50 grams!) so this will last you a life time and will probably expire before you can use it all.
