If you have fair skin, you will know how difficult it can be to find a bronzer that isn’t orange on you. I have figured out the key to finding a bronzer that will work if you have fair skin with a cool undertone. To prevent that orange look, opt for products that aren’t labelled as bronzers, but as contours. The cooler undertone will make it perfect for you as a bronzer and I feel the ELF Putty Bronzer in Feelin’ Shady is a great example of such a product. Let’s review it!
The best thing about the ELF Putty bronzer? It is affordable and available in 6 different shades. The lightest one is actually light and even the deeper shade seem like they can work for a range of people. Where ELF have increased their prices in the past few years, especially for they viral and hyped up products, I feel the Putty Bronzer is one that is priced in a way that still seems fair.

So what is the price point of the ELF Putty Bronzer? At just €7 I feel this is a fair price for an affordable bronzer. In recent years ELF has also become more easily available. The website now ships internationally and just last April the availability in store was expanded too. I bought mine through the official website, but you certainly don’t have to!
What does the bronzer have to offer?
ELF makes some stunning products and this is one of my favorites. It has a cream formula that is easy to blend but never looks like too much. In the pan it looks like a straight up grey, but on the face it looks very natural. It gives a sun-kissed effect but isn’t super glowy. The finish is semi-matte as this is a cream to powder formula. This means it sets itself in place, feels lightweight and will work on many different skin types.
What does this look like in a swatch?
When we swatch this, it looks a bit sheer at first, but that’s why this works. The sheer formula allows you to blend it seamlessly. The fact that this comes in a pot gives you a lot of control for applying this whichever way you prefer. You can apply this using fingers or a brush and it will work every time. It is also one of the coolest bronzer shades I have tried, which is an added bonus.
What does this look like applied to the face?
As mentioned, this is a fair bronzer. It is light and takes some building up. However, I feel this works well for me in the winter time especially. That’s when I am at my fairest and so many bronzer are too warm for me then. If you look at these pictures and think: but Maaike, I can barely see a thing! That’s precisely the point as this gives a very natural, bronzed look without making it look like too much.
I love applying this with a brush for the best effect. My Spectrum B01 is the best brush for applying this to the face. It fits perfectly into the round pan and picks up the right amount of product straight away. Because it is a synthetic brush, it makes light work of buffing the bronzer onto the face.
Should you buy the ELF Putty Bronzer?
I think the ELF Putty Bronzer is a great one. It just does everything I need it to do. It is light, it is cool toned AND it has a great blendable formula. What is more to like? Oh right! The price point. Even the price point is affordable and therefore this is a product I can wholeheartedly recommend you try.
