A good, affordable brow gel? It is certainly one you can find, but it can be hard. My love for the Essence Make Me Brow is well-documented but I am always hoping to find an alternative to dethrone it. Will the Kruidvat Made To Stay brow gel in Cool Taupe do the job?
This product is available in several shades. There is one transparent one and the rest are all brow shades. There are 4 or 5 shades in total with 020 Cool Taupe being the coolest and lightest shade of the more colorful shades.

In case you are not familiar Kruidvat is a Dutch drugstore that sells makeup as well as skincare and bodycare. They sell name brands that you can often find at drugstores, but they also have their own, quite affordable line. The makeup was added a bit later and had been wanting to try them for a while as there aren’t many truly Dutch makeup brands that are unique to our market. This brow gel retails for €3.99.
What the product promises to do
I was surprised to see how dark this product is. Usually when I buy a light brow shade, they end up being too warm but this looks borderline grey in a swatch. The aim with this product is to keep your brows in place all day (hence the name).
The bristles combined with the formula should make the application easy while defining your brows at the same time. The formula includes some skincare benefits so the product also promises to nourish your brows while you are using the product.
Application & Wear Time
My brows are pretty okay shape wise so I never feel I need anything that is too precise when doing my brows. I just fill them in with a pencil and then go over it with a brow gel to define the brows a bit more. This brow gel is a touch too dark for my brows and it can get clumpy.
While this product seems to have the fibers I appreciate in the Essence Make Me Brow as well, in this formula they just make a bit of a mess and gloop together making my brows look like a solid block instead of more defined.
I also have issues with this brow gel leaving clums in certain spaces which are hard to comb through. Overall it is quite messy to use and I have been needing to touch up my foundation after using this several times as I need to clean up my brows after every use.
Should you buy Kruidvat Made to Stay brow gel?
Is this a quick and easy little brow gel that gets the job done? Absolutely! But for €3.99 there isn’t much to be expecting here. I still like the Essence Make Me Brow best as this may be just as affordable but that is where the comparison ends.
Of course this product is also quite difficult to buy if you aren’t in The Netherlands, but even then I don’t think I would recommend this if you can buy it on the regular. Okay enough to be used up but due to the gloopy formula I expect this to not last long in my Shop My Stash.
