Rare Beauty Soft Pinch liquid blush in Hope review

The Rare Beauty liquid blushes has to be one of my favorite liquid blush formulas. I just hadn’t quite gotten around to reviewing it quite yet. So last month I reviewed Encourage which I got later, but the shade that really got me hooked was Hope. Let’s take a closer look.

The shade Hope is a Dewy finish Soft Pinch liquid blush. It is described by the brand as a Nude Mauve. It is available in 13 shades, some of which are matte and there is a range of depth. The overall line pulls quite warm as there are only one or two real cool tones. On me I feel this pulls more like a soft pinky peach rather than a mauve.

Review: Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush in Hop

At 7.5 mls of product this is about as much as more blushes but the container is certainly quite big and with these a little goes a long way. So I feel it is a good bang for your buck. It retails for €27 for a full size, but the brand now also has mini travel sizes if you just want to give them a try. A mini retails for €17 and contains 3.2 mls of product.

What to expect

The Rare Beauty Soft Pinch liquid blushes promise to be weightless and long-lasting while being easy to blend and build to create a natural flushed look. While I feel that is true I don’t think all shades are created equal as some of them blend a bit more easily than other. Because these last, you don’t have a lot of time before they set and won’t budge. So it is recommended to work in small amounts for the best effect.

Swatch

With just one little dot you can see here how much product you get. This is plenty to cover both of your cheeks and then some. While I love the doe foot and the little well it has to dispense the product, it also means you only need a little bit every time. I love this shade for a more neutral vibe but you can see here that it is quite peach on me. While it has a pinky undertone for sure, there is also a certain warmth to it that means this won’t be everyone’s favorite.

Application

Because these are so pigmented and you need just a little bit for the best effect, I like to use this sparingly. I apply a dot to the back of my hand and then use fingers to blend it onto my cheeks. This gives the most natural result in my opinion and it gives you the ability to blend and build as you go. Because once this sets, it won’t go anywhere unless you take it off.

Should you buy the Rare Beauty liquid blush in Hope?

I think Hope is a lovely shade on me but it’s definitely not a nude mauve on me. Encourage is better as a mauve. Hope is a bit more on the peachy side. I love a peach tone in the summer time but not year round. So this has limited use for me but I love the formula, the wear time and the dewy finish. Overall this is a winner and there is a reason why I got an additional shade after trying this.
