A313 Retinol cream

A313 Retinol cream

Ever since active ingredients became the hype in the skincare world, I have been struggling. Struggling because I have quite sensitive skin and all those actives aren’t exactly great if you have sensitive skin. But that doesn’t mean I want to keep trying. So let’s try the A313.

I picked this up from the French Pharmacy. I got the recommendation from Dr. Shereene Idris who did a full video on her favorite French pharmacy products and I decided to try some that I liked the sound of. This being my first full on retinol I was curious to see how it would go.

Review: A313 Retinol Cream

I don’t remember exactly how much I paid for this as I picked it up in store. However, it much have been somewhere between 10 and 15 euros. I had to wait a little while until I could try it as I picked it up right before summer and the lady at the pharmacy recommended not starting usage until the less sunnier months to allow your skin to get used to it.

What does this product have to offer?

I have been using this once or twice a week for the past 3 months and this stuff works but without it making my skin flake or any increased redness or sensitivity. It is an oily substance that has 0.12% of a very mild vitamin A: retinol esters. This is a great retinol to get started with if you want to ease yourself into it. In July the EU will ban stronger retinols from being sold without a prescription, but this one is gentle enough that it will still be available.

What can you expect from this product?

This product is recommended for use with fine lines and wrinkels, pigmentation, acne and blackheads. What surprised me was how this this is. It is more an ointment than a cream, like vaseline. And it certainly works. Whenever I use this, my skin feels smoother and softer and I can notice a difference in my skin. Naturally you would have to use this for a longer period of time to see true results, but short terms it certainly has an effect.

Should you buy the A313 Retinol cream?

Yes I think this is a great retinol if you want to give it a shot and you are unsure of whether it might work for you. For something that works but in such a way that it doesn’t set off my sensitive skin I find this is a winner of a product. You can sadly only get it online or in France so not widely available but I will be sure to pick up a new tube on my next trip to Paris.
