Catrice released a multichrome highlighter, Essence does a similar thing. The new Meta Glow highlighter is more of a duochrome though but as you can see from these images it is much stronger than the Catrice one. So let’s review it.
I love seeing how these more affordable brands are now doing multi- and duochrome highlighters at a cheaper price point. Because before these kind of products would always cost a pretty penny and this way it just becomes much more accessible for people to try.
Review: Essence Meta Glow highlighter
Because you won’t believe how affordable this is. At just €3.99 this is one of the most affordable highlighters on the market and to have it be this pretty and special is quite something. It’s even got a luxuriously feeling formula. The only thing that reminds you of how cheap this is is the plastic packaging.
What does this highlighter have to offer?
This highlighter has a white base but then the flip is a strong lilac/ pink. I get more of the lilac than the pink as well but it has a lovely gel to powder formula. It certainly doesn’t feel like a €4 highlighter when you use it. It is buildable, has a high shine and cool undertone what more do you want?
What does this highlighter look like in a swatch?
Do you see how pretty that is? This doesn’t look like an affordable highlighter at all. It is pigmented, it is sparkly and it has great blendability. It even has great last-a-bility as it stays put really well too. This really doesn’t do under for any high end highlighters you may have tried.
What does this look like on the face?
Since the flip on this is more intense than with the new Catrice I do feel this leaves a bit of a cast. Especially since the flip is a lilac which doesn’t always blend into every single blush color, I do feel the use I have for this highlighter isn’t an allrounder that goes with every look. That being said, if you love a good intense highlighter and you love them purple this is a good one.
Should you buy the Essence Meta Glow highlighter?
This is a very pretty highlighter and I love how this truly gives you the look for less. Formula wise this competes with high end formulas I have tried as it is smooth, blendable and longlasting. The color may not be everyone’s cup of tea of the most versatile but if you had been wanting to try a multi- or duochrome highlighter than this is a nice one to give a try.
