Is Catrice my favorite drugstore brand? It could very well be and they of course bring out new products every 6 months. In their most recent Spring/ Summer 2024 collection they have released the Blush Affair liquid blush. I tested them in 2 colors and these are my thoughts.

In total this blush formula is available in 5 shades. I picked up a warm and a cool tone to see how the color spectrum would fair in this formula. Because if you try makeup you’ll know how a formula can be great in one shade and then not so great in another. Let’s get to the review.
Review: Catrice Blush Affair liquid blush 010 Pink Feelings & 040 Velvet Rose
Let’s kick things off with the best part: this is under €5. Yes, this liquid blush retails for a whopping €4.69. That is an absolute steal. Because blush can be expensive but Catrice once again shows that you can easily do a good product and still be affordable. While this isn’t perfect I still think this is great esp. if you have dry skin.
What does this product have to offer?

The Catrice Blush Affair is a liquid blush formula that is supposed to have a glowy finish. It has a serum like formula that should feel soft and create a natural look. Added bonus: this can be used as a lipstain as well (which I haven’t tried). You need to shake this well before use and then you get a lovely, pigmented yet easy to apply blush.
What does this product swatch like?

Here you can see the two colors swatched side by side. The light pink is 010 Pink Feelings: a blue toned cool pink. The rosy shade is 040 Velvet Rose which I would describe as a warm neutral rose. You can see the glowy finish this has and that both shades are nicely pigmented.
Formula wise this isn’t my favorite. This feels quite oily when you apply it. When you apply this for the first time, you will get a little bit of oily first before you get the pigment and I have find that this happens occasionally as you are using the product too. Even when you do shake it. So this may not be great for oily skinned people but for dry skinned folks this may be a good option.
What do these blushes look like on the cheeks?

Here you can see both shades of blush on each of my cheeks. You can see that healthy glow when it is sheered out onto the skin very well. I apply this using fingers which is the easiest way to control a liquid blush.
My favorite of the two shades is Velvet Rose as it looks very natural and goes with many looks. I love a slightly warmer blush tone on myself to balance the overall look. Pink Feelings is great too if you love your cool toned pinks. On me and my fair skin it looks almost a little bit lavender.
Should you buy the Catrice Blush Affair liquid blush?

On the left: Velvet Rose. On the right: Pink Feelings. I love both but I can also see the limitations of this product. It can be a bit finicky. As it has an oilier texture it won’t work with all bases as it could dissolve certain foundations or primers. Also if you have oily skin this formula may not last very well on you as it could slide around and disappear.
For dry skin I feel this is a great formula. It looks healthy and glowy and it is easy to apply. If you struggle with texture this will simply glide over and I think the shades are versatile enough to cater to many different skin tones. Are you warm toned? Or are you cool toned? And I think the deepest shade will also be pretty on deeper skin tones. Catrice certainly did a good job but it’s not a must have in my book.
