Lip oils, lip stains, and lip tints: if there is a lip category I tried a lot of in 2023 it’s these ones. Rare Beauty came out with their Tinted Lip Oils and so I just had to try them. I bought it in the shade Wonder and this is my review.
As far as lip oils go, this isn’t my favorite but it is a good lip tint. So I feel this has been misnamed for sure. The shade is pretty but not revolutionary either. That said, this is a solid pick if you are looking for a good tinted lip oil that is fairly hydrating but not super longlasting.

My one reason for not loving this more is the price point. At €22 this is quite a pricey product for what it does. Maybe it’s because I have tried glosses, lip tints, lip oils and lip stains from other more affordable brands that I like as much or even better than this that I just can’t love this more.
What does this product have to offer?
This product is a lightweight lip oil that is more like a jelly but should still be hydrating on the lips. It is available in 8 shades and Wonder is described as a rose mauve. This should be non-sticky and feel comfortable on the lips all day. While pretty, I feel the formula is too similar to a regular lipgloss for it to be a true lip oil and it is a little bit slippery so it doesn’t stay put the best.
What does this look like in a swatch?
The shade is certainly pretty. As far as Rare Beauty color products go, my main issue has been that many of them are too warm toned. This one isn’t. It is a pretty rosy pink and you can see the formula quite well in this swatch. It is thin, glossy and well-pigmented.
What does it look like on the lips?
As glossy as this looks on the lips, I feel it can be difficult to make this look natural. While it is a good shade for me, as it is a true my lips but better shade, I feel the formula is just a little too slippery for me to love this. It kind of gloops together and it slides around too easily. It doesn’t really leave a stain either so you have to continuously reapply this.
Should you buy the Rare Beauty Tinted Oil in Wonder?
I think this is a very pretty product, but I also feel that it is not one of Rare Beauty’s best. It is a solid pick for me to have a lip product by the brand in my collection, but it isn’t my favorite as far as lip oils go. That title still goes to the Dior or the Catrice. It is too pigmented for an oil, it is too slippery for a gloss and therefore I feel it is just too much part of a no man’s land for me to love this. If you love the shade and you prefer comfort over color and wear time, you may love this but I feel you would be better off choosing a K-beauty lip stain like the Amuse Dew Tints or Romand Juicy Lasting Tints.
