Did you know you can buy an SPF version of the La Roche-Posay Cicaplast B5 Baume? I did not, but since I loved the original I decided to try it. Will this be the same lovely hydrating and nourishing moisturizer but with the added benefit of an SPF? Let’s find out.

I wasn’t expecting this to be any different from the original and I am happy to report it isn’t. This is just as good as the original with the added benefit of some SPF. Win-Win if you ask me.
Skincare review: La Roche-Posay Cicaplast B5 Baume SPF
As far as affordability goes, this is one of the better ones. At just over €12.00 this is only just a touch more expensive than the other version for a small tube of 40 mls. There are bigger versions out there, which are only a few euros more than this version. Prices do vary a lot. So shop around to get the best deal for your location.
What does this moisturizer have to offer?

So this is THE moisturizer if you want to support your skin barrier’s recovery. Yes, there are lots of products out there that promise that but this one is much more affordable than many of those. This is the same thick texture as the original version. It therefore moisturizing, non-greasy and non sticky. It does require some effort to work into the skin, but once you get it there it is one of the best moisturizers ever. It is great for dry skin and more sensitive skin types as well.
What are the ingredients like?

This is the ingredient list:
AQUA / WATER • HOMOSALATE • PANTHENOL • ETHYLHEXYL SALICYLATE • BUTYL METHOXYDIBENZOYLMETHANE • OCTOCRYLENE • ALCOHOL DENAT. • BIS-ETHYLHEXYLOXYPHENOL METHOXYPHENYL TRIAZINE • STYRENE/ACRYLATES COPOLYMER • ETHYLHEXYL TRIAZONE • TRIETHANOLAMINE • DIMETHICONE • PHENYLBENZIMIDAZOLE SULFONIC ACID • PEG-8 LAURATE • SORBITAN OLEATE • ZINC GLUCONATE • MADECASSOSIDE • MANGANESE GLUCONATE • ISOHEXADECANE • SODIUM ACRYLATES CROSSPOLYMER-2 • SILICA • 2-OLEAMIDO-1,3-OCTADECANEDIOL • PERLITE • DROMETRIZOLE TRISILOXANE • POLOXAMER 338 • DISODIUM EDTA • COPPER GLUCONATE • CAPRYLYL GLYCOL • POLYSORBATE 80 • ACRYLAMIDE/SODIUM ACRYLOYLDIMETHYLTAURATE COPOLYMER • ACRYLATES/C10-30 ALKYL ACRYLATE CROSSPOLYMER • BHT • TOCOPHEROL • PHENOXYETHANOL
What is my experience using this?
I like this moisturizer as much as I do the original version. Not sure I am getting the SPF I need from just this so I do like to go in with that separately anyway. Not sure I therefore need this one per se, but all the little bits count I guess.
Everything I liked about the original version is what I like about this: the texture, the way it makes my skin feel and the fact that it is multipurpose. I can use this both for the day time and night time and for travel it is quite small and easy to carry around. It is small enough to pack if you travel hand luggage only which is what I did when I went to Italy last fall. This was the only moisturizer I brought and it was enough.
My dry/ dehydrated, sensitive skin loves this. I don’t think it will work for everyone but overall I think this is quite a universal skincare product that works well for lots of different skin types. Because no matter your skin type, your skin barrier needs to be on point no matter what.
