A concealer I wanted to try because it was so hyped up was the NYX Bare With Me Concealer Serum. I mean if a concealer promises to be hydrating and it has coverage? You can sign me up to try it. Let’s see how it went.

In case you are wondering where all the concealer reviews are suddenly coming from: I have neglected the concealer category for too long so I want to bring them back to the blog. I had been buying some, but I wasn’t reviewing them. So in the next few months you can expect me to do some more of these I have some catching up to do.
Review: NYX Bare With Me Concealer serum in Fair
I bought this for a full face of NYX I wanted to do earlier this year. Because NYX was one of the few brands I know I love that I hadn’t done a full face makeup look with. So I had to change that. Because NYX is one of the affordable brands that I have loved for years. Their prices have creeped up over time though and at €11.50 this isn’t as affordable as I remember NYX to be.
What does this concealer have to offer?

Like many other brands, the NYX Bare With Me concealer promises to fuse makeup and skincare together. While offering a medium coverage this concealer should also hydrate the skin and it is packed with good for your skin ingredients. Additionally, the brand claims this is suitable for all skin types.
All in all the brand claims this should easily covera up dark circles, blemishes, even if you have dry skin. The formula should be blendable while giving a natural finish and a healthy glow. In short, NYX claims this is THE concealer for the no-makeup makeup look.
How does this concealer swatch?

First up I have to point out that this concealer is indeed nice, but I greatly dislike the packaging. The concealer comes with a pump and while that is hygienic it means I get way more product with each use than I actually need. I could do with half or a quarter of a pump, but sadly the pump doesn’t work that exact and so I waste product every time I use it.
When you blend it out you can see this has a thin formula with a good coverage. I bought this in shade Fair and I think it is a touch too light for me. It is also a bit too yellow for my liking. It looks streaky on the back of my hand as it is so emolient that instead of blending it into the skin, what happens is that you keep pushing the product about.
What does this concealer look like on the skin?

So while this concealer was increadibly promising I just don’t love this as much as I had hoped. It does cover my dark circles but it’s too light for me to use it on the rest of my face. It also looks cakey very easily. It could be my dry skin, it could be the fact that I am pushing 40, but this is not great with my skin type.
At the end of the day this also starts to look patchy and it breaks up very easily, especially on my chin and around my nose. It pulls in to fine lines and it’s difficult to blend and make it looks seamless. I am continuously tapping this out with my fingers throughout the day and I just don’t love how this sits on my skin.
Should you buy the NYX Bare With Me Concealer?

As much as I want to like this, I just didn’t love this for me. It breaks up on my chin and around my nose and it looks patchy quickly. The shade is also a bit off as it is super brightening and I am over that very bright under eye look. The undertone also isn’t perfect as it is a bit too yellow toned.
While this concealer has a lot going for it, I don’t think this concealer is great for people who have lines, texture or dry patches. If you are younger than me (late teens/ early 20s) this will be a banger of a concealer to cover up any evidence of a wild night out. However, if you are nearly 40 or older, like me, this may not be the best for you.
