Do you love no makeup makeup? Then you may already be familiar with Glossier. Glossier is a brand that has created its image to be for the fuss free makeup girlie. For those people who like makeup, but who don’t want it to be too obvious and hassle free. And that’s exactly what I like in makeup. So let’s review the Glossier Ultralip in Fête.

I have reviewed plenty of Glossier over the years. I don’t have regular access to it though which is why the reviews are a bit few and far between. But now that I have been able to try some more, I still have to bust out some of those reviews. If you want to hear my thoughts on their Generation G lipstick, you can checkout this post.
Review: Glossier Ultralip lipstick Fête
One thing that is good to know is that Glossier can be pricey. This lipstick retails for $18, which as far as lip products go it really isn’t super expensive. However, Glossier has that sheer, barely there makeup quality to it, which means this isn’t for everyone. If you want makeup that has a full on color pay off, you won’t find this worth the money. I do, and here’s why.
What does this lipstick have to offer?

After having tried the Generation G lipstick I was happy to find the brand come out with a lip product that has better color payoff than those. The brand describes this as a balm, gloss and lip tint hybrid product. And I would agree with this. This lipstick has a great balmy texture, a glossy finish yet a great sheer but buildable color payoff.
What does this lipstick look like in a swatch?

This lipstick is available in 9 shades and I opted for Fête. It is one of the more intense shades in the range and when I swatched this it stood out to me most. The brand describes this shade as a watermelon red and I would agree that’s exactly what this reminds me of. It looks like ripe fruit on your lips and I love the finish this gives. It is not the longest lasting lipstick on the planet but you can easily reapply this without a mirror, even though this is a brighter shade.
Should you buy the Glossier Ultralip lipstick?

While I love mine, I can’t say I would recommend this to everyone. And the reason for that is the availability. I bought this on a trip to London and it is the only way I can get my hands on any products by the brand. Sadly they still don’t ship internationally and so this isn’t available to everyone. That’s why I cannot fully recommend this to everyone.
However, if you do have access and you want a comfortable lip product that looks like that bitten look but without the hassle of a stain, you will love this. I love how juicy this looks on the lips and I also love how it has that hint of sheerness, leaving my natural lip color to shine through. That can be a disaster but I feel here it works.
In the grander scheme of things however, you can find this type of product at a far cheaper price point. Many drugstore brands now do products like this. Think the Catrice Melting Kiss lipsticks, which remind me a lot of this formula. Or what about the plethora of K-beauty lip tints and lip stains out there? So if you want the look you can definitely do it for less.
So to say this is a musthave? No not really, but I don’t regret my purchase and have been loving this for the spring time a lot. It has that brightness that I love yet that popsicle fruity look I love when the weather starts to turn for the better. So I love mine, but I don’t feel you need to run out to get this.
