Now if you read my little blurb you may be wondering: what do you mean the last drugstore foundation you’ll be reviewing? Will you never review a drugstore foundation again? Of course not! But for the past few months I had given myself the task to try out 10 new to me drugstore foundations, many by brands I had never tried before, so I could try something new and do a foundation ranking. But before I could rank them, I had to try and review them all individually of course. This will the last review for that video and it is on the Eveline Cosmetics Better than Perfect foundation in 01 Ivory.
So no, this will not be the last drugstore foundation I try, but I will be taking a break for sure. My next project is to try K-beauty BB creams, but I will of course be sneaking in some drugstore foundation reviews if and when I get my hands on some interesting ones in the mean time. Review: Eveline Cosmetics Better Than Perfection foundation 01 Ivory
In case you are unfamiliar it may be good to know that Eveline Cosmetics is a Polish drugstore brand and some people had attended me to their existend in my Youtube comments section. So when I went looking to try some new drugstore foundations I knew I wanted to try some by the brand. At only €6.00 this is definitely an affordable option, but it doesn’t seem to be available in many shades. There are just 5 shades on Notino of which 01 is the lightest one.
What does this foundation have to offer?
This is the third Eveline Cosmetics foundations I have tried. Previously I tried the Eveline Cosmetics Tea Tree and Wonder Match foundations and I liked both of them. This is another good foundation but it is my least favorite of the three. On paper this sounded like it could be my favorite. It promises to be hydrating with even some skincare properties. Sadly it is a bit too heavy coverage for me, the shade isn’t perfect and this feels heavy and makeuppy after a few hours of wear.
What is the coverage like?
When it comes to foundation I prefer a lightweight, light coverage, dewy foundation. I have dry/ dehydrated skin and other than a bit of redness I don’t have that many skin issues that need covering up. Therefore I don’t need my foundation to do that much. I just apply a bit of concealer to do the heavylifting, while I need my foundation to just do some light evening out of my skintone. This is more coverage than I need. As you can see I barely need any concealer after using this and so I feel this wasn’t perfect.
What is the shade match like?
I got this foundation in the lightest shade. Shade 01 is decent, but I do have to blend it down my neck to make it look good. It is not too dark per se, but undertone wise it is a bit too yellow compared to my cool to neutral undertone.
This looks pretty on though and it has a bit of glow as well, but I prefer a dewier texture. After a few hours of wear I feel this starts to feel obviously like makeup. This doesn’t have that skin like feel that I love in my foundation which is why this wasn’t my favorite.
Should you buy the Eveline Cosmetics Better Than Perfect foundation?
If you are a high coverage king or queen this may be for you but if like me you prefer a light dewy texture this is not for you. This feels a bit suffocating and I don’t love how it makes my skin feel. That is my main reason for not loving this.
The other downsides (the shade and the medium coverage) are minor ones that I can fix. Once I apply bronzer and I use a light hand, this can still be a workable foundation for sure. And for how affordable this is I think it is definitely a good foundation.
Provided you can find your shade this foundation can be a good one if it ticks the boxes you need. For me, this was just a bit more than what I need and therefore it wasn’t my favorite drugstore foundation that I tried for my ranking video. The ranking video will be up later this week!
