Some of my favorite movies are Disney movies and I own a great deal of them. There’s only two movies that I am dying to get and the rest, oh well, if I get them eventually it’s okay, but I wouldn’t miss them either. I would only get those to complete the collection. The two I’m still missing are Lion King and the original Fantasia movie. If I’m not mistaken they are both next in line to be taken out of the Disney Vault. So, hopefully, by the end of this year I’ll have completed my Disney collection!
Aren’t they pretty all sitting on a shelf like that? I think I started buying Disney DVDs when I was still a student and I would make good use of the buy 2 get 1 free deal at my local department store to buy the bulk of them. Conveniently, they usually had this discount arranged when one of the new movies came out, so I would buy that and then 2 others and that’s how the collection grew steadily.
What I collect however, aren’t ALL Disney movies, but the Disney Classics. These so called Disney Classics come out one at the time and a select few, called the Diamond Collection, only come out once every 5 years I believe, for a limited time only. Then they are put back into the ‘vault’. Of course this is Disney’s way of creating demand, but every re-release they add extra bonus features and plenty of titles are now also available on Blu-Ray. However, I just try to get my hands on the regular DVDs for now.
As I said I still need to get Lion King and the original Fantasia movie. However, especially the Fantasia one is hard to get. According to the link I gave above it should be out now, but alas, I haven’t seen it yet. Oh well. I’ll get it eventually. As for the ones I do have, I just thought it easier to take pictures. So here you go:
As you can tell, I also have all of the Pixar movies, Enchanted (w/ Patrick Demsey, yum) and some Ducktales and Rescue Rangers. I love Pixar movies, I think they are too funny. My favorites are probably: The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and Snow White. When I was a kid I loved The Sword in the Stone and I still love that one as well. I also have to get The Princess and the Frog, but that is not yet listed as a Classic, but I’m sure it will.
Q: What are your favorite Disney Movies? Do you collect them like me?
P.S. If you cannot read some of the DVD titles despite the flash, it’s because here in Holland they print the Dutch names on the DVDs. So The Sword in the Stone is actually called Merlijn de Tovenaar and there’s a few more.
